From The CriticsReviewer: Kelley J Thounlasenh, RT (R)(MR) B.S.(Froedtert Hospital)
Description: This update of a review book has been extended to cover the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) exam in addition to the American Registry for Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) MRI exam.
Purpose: The purpose is to prepare MRI technologists for a registry exam. The questions are on topics listed in the content specifications offered by AART.
Audience: This book is written for MRI technologists preparing for these exams. Technologists should already be well versed in the various aspects of MRI (physics, imaging acquisition, data acquisition and processing, and patient care). The authors' longevity in the field makes for a strong knowledge base and understanding of types of questions on the exam.
Features: This book has multiple choice questions based on different aspects of MRI. The best part of this book is its thoroughness in all areas that will be on the exam (different categories of questions). The images are a great learning aid; even more graphics/images would be helpful in explaining answers to questions in some areas (especially in the data acquisition section).
Assessment: This is a great tool that MRI technologists could use as a trial run for the examination. This is the best type of review book, since it mimics the format of the actual exam. It also would be helpful for seasoned MRI technologists who want to remain fresh in this ever-advancing field.
