Description: This book on revision ACL surgery covers everything from preoperative planning to how to deal with tough and complex cases.
Purpose: The editor hopes this book will provide new thoughts, concepts, and techniques for revision ACL reconstruction to surgeons. Admittedly there is some overlap since revision of the ACL with complex meniscus problems will have share similar concepts with revision reconstruction and collateral ligament injury or chondral injury. Be that as it may, it is the goal of this book to provide a different perspective for some of these injuries and complexities.
Audience: While residents and fellows will benefit significantly from this book, it is clearly intended for reconstructive surgeons who are willing to take on the unique challenges of revision surgery. It is fundamental to understand why the first one failed before attempting a revision, and this book emphasizes that concept. Dr. Marx has collected a wonderful group of contributors to share their thoughts.
Features: The book is quite comprehensive, with some chapters dedicated to fundamental concepts that will cover most cases and others that present how to approach unique combinations of injuries.
Assessment: Dr. Marx has done a remarkable job of collecting a myriad of current concepts and perspectives on how to address these complex injuries, making this a worthwhile addition to academic orthopedic libraries and a must for surgeons who commonly perform these surgeries and wish to stay current on the more complex possibilities. Indeed, it will help even those surgeons who mostly do primary surgeries, since when you are aware of the possible complex issues, the isolated primaries become simpler and more straightforward.
