Revive Your Love Affair With Sam Harris

Revival: For those who remember Sam Harris from Star Search fame but for some reason lost track of him. Here is your chance to revive your love affair with the voice that made us all feel every emotion under and over the rainbow during his debut to the American Public. On "Revival" Sam sings many of the songs that he treated us with on "Star Search" such as "Come To Me" and "Going Down Makes Me Shiver". It is great hearing these songs in their complete version and not an edited format to fit into a television show. "The Rescue" Sam first recorded in 1986 for his second album "Sam-I-AM". "The Rescue" is such a haunting song of how many of us may have felt when trying to rescue a close loved one in times of trouble. "A Change In My Life" is a throwback to the sounds of the old Motown Days. You can picture Sam on a brownstone doorstep with his pals singing acappella. "Don't Let The World Step On Your Soul" must be one of the best cuts on the album. The song was written by Sam¿s long time collaborator Todd Schroeder. This song makes you think of your newborn loved one, so honest and pure and how you want to protect them from the harshness of the world. You can also take it to your own heart and remember not to let the world step on your soul. "The Circle" is a wonderful song that has a "Lion King" kind of feel to it about the great circle of life and how one needs to start living when it seems things have come to an end. The final cut on the album "I'll Be Here With You" is such a beautiful song with just Sam's voice and a solo guitar. This song sends chills throughout my body. This is a song that one would sing to a newborn, a scared child, a friend or to the love of your life. "Come rain or come shine, through thick and thin, for better or worse, I'll be here for you". What beautiful words, and with the way Sam sings those words makes it all the more touching and beautiful.

Great Voice Lousy Use Of His Talent

Sam Harris has an outstanding voice, saw him when he was on star search. They just don't use his voice to the best of it's ability. Needs the right producer.

Revival : Its All About Love!

You must believe me when I say I am still stunned and amazed with every play of Sam Harris ''Revival''. I cant believe this tremendous voice and soul that comes through on every track, has not been awarded a grammy for this CD.! Why are we not hearing this fantastic CD on radio? I'm convinced that Sam Harris is a Miracle. You have to experience these wonderful recordings to feel the sensation, the warmth, the lasting immpression that Revival leaves with you.I cant really single out one certain track on Revival because each song is treated like a one of a kind masterpiece. The musicians, the players and everyone involved in the making of Revival is first class. I havent heard music this exciting in a long time. You feel like a better person after one listen. The bottom line is : Revival is about Love! You will hear it in every song! Sam Harris is the voice!

    SAM....WHERE DID YOU GO?

Oprah Winfrey said on her show after hearing you sing a selection from THE LIFE, ' I have just heard a gift from God! ' We have all felt that way Sam. After Star Search we expected to see you in movies, TV and hear your recordings all over the country. What happened? Where did you go? Motown should have been great for you but it was not a good move. A few years ago I purchased your Standard Time and Different Stages albums which were fantastic. But found them by accident as I never heard them promoted. Come back to the Standards Sam. Show the world your unique talent as only Sam Harris can..... You could be the voice of the new century Sam. How about a one man concert at Carnegie Hall for starters?

    Overall best masterpiece

Positively, Sam Harris does have all the talent and this CD certainly is showcase for it. Everything is given better treatment. Full nuance, subtlety, finesse. I guess if you loved Star Search and all thoes mesmerizing singers going for the big, soulful crescendos, then you will hear everything you like here. If you like music, you won't believe your ears.

    Over-the-top bombastic mess

Perhaps Sam Harris does have some talent but this CD certainly is not the showcase for it. Everything is given the bigger-is-better treatment. No nuance, no subtlety, no finesse. I guess if you loved Star Search and all thoes modulating singers going for the big, shrill crescendos, then you might find something you like here. If you like music, you won't.

This album proves to be a pleasing step in the right direction for Sam Harris, who at last is attempting to record the unusual blend of Judy Garland/Aretha Franklin -style vocal feats that brought him fame as a

    Bright, Beautiful, Breathtaking

Reinvented classic soul, making it his art. Hard to believe this one will ever leave my cd player. Strictly for the meticulous music crowd.

    Bland, Boring, Banal

Recycled faux soul, masquerading as art. Hard to believe this one escaped. Strictly for the Marjorie Morningstar crowd.

    Glad I've discovered Sam Harris

In Australia we don't know much about Sam Harris. We didn't see him win on STAR SEARCH and none of his Motown singles registered on the charts here. I was steered to one of Sam's earlier CDs by a knowledgeable local record shop and I enjoyed that CD. The same people recommended I buy REVIVAL and I'm not sorry. I especially like 'Come to Me' (which I also have Aretha Franklin singing but Sam's version is refreshing), 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' (again this is a refreshing take on an overexposed classic), 'Revival' (exciting and motivational - clever lyrics) and 'Going Down Makes Me Shiver' (interesting song intelligently presented), but the entire CD is varied, entertaining and involving. I enjoyed Sam's contribution to the original cast recording for THE LIFE too. He seems to bring a pop sensibility to Broadway work and some of Broadway to his pop/soul work. I hope we see more releases soon.

Sam-The Most Beautiful Voice in the World

The lastest CD by Sam Harris is so inspirational, so touching, so full of love and hope. This outstanding voice is so full, rich and powerful. He has done it again, only even more so in proving that he is the most talented male singer in the world. What a positive group of songs , but he is a truly positive person.

    Revival

Revival was a welcomed addition to my CD collection and well worth the wait. Such an immense talent and vocal range. Revival is a great collection of classic songs that Sam makes his own, as well as a couple impressive self-penned songs. A very inspirational CD. I will certainly share this with all my friends.
