    pleasant but disappointing

Despite being a lover of Thomas Newman's music, I found this album disappointing in general. Usually, I automatically buy an album of his soundtracks; in this case, I regret this purchase. The melody is repetitive; basically one theme runs throughout the entire album without much variation. There is not alot of intense musical color in the compositions & they were not very distinguishable, one from the other.

    Beautiful and Bleak

Thomas Newman's score added just the right elements of despair, hope, mystery and sadness to a brilliant film. The haunting main theme so accurately conveys how the film feels. See it while listening closely.
