Another Must For Jodi Thomas Fans

    Rewriting Monday
    By Jodi Thomas
    Reviewed by Phyliss Miranda

Pepper Malone shows up in Small Town, Texas, with $245 plus some change in her pocket, determined to turn her trash heap of a life around. Needing to put distance between her and the mistake she made as a big city reporter she faces her first challenge ... to get a job from the 4th generation, fire-breathing newspaper editor.

Living in the shadows of his family, ten years ago Michael McCullock, inherited the newspaper along with a three year old niece, family secrets, and a rival or two who'd like to destroy him and the newspaper. When he hires Pepper, he gets more than he bargains for; awaking something in him he thought had been lost - something that feels a lot like hope.

The dogged female reporter tries to blend in with the motley crew at the Bailee Bugle who are hell bent on rewriting parts of their own lives, but first they will have to expose their own vulnerabilities.

When the paper comes under attack, Mike and Pepper are thrown into a tale of suspense and trouble, big trouble. They realize they must trust what is in their own hearts and, most importantly, to believe in themselves. Pepper is faced with reality ... why oh why, is she so attracted to the editor when everything inside of her tells her to move on, and do so as quickly as possible?

Jodi creates a cast of terrific, very flawed characters who you can truly root for...want them to succeed and come to grips with this past, while accepting this future. A must read!

    Good book

This was a good book, an easy read. The reason it did not get the full five stars is because i was able to put the book down. i save the five stars for books that are hard to stop reading until the end.

    Great Writing Style

I have always enjoyed Jodi Thomas' books and this one didn't disappoint. I really loved the way she wrote in first person in various chapters as it made me connect quickly to the characters and added a twist on the writing style. I enjoyed not only the romantic storyline, but also the interaction between the characters that made the term "family" more than just the one you are born into. Thomas didn't make it too easy to fiqure out who to point the finger to for the suspense in the book, making that an enjoyable conclusion. I would highly recommend any of Thomas books, especially the western based stories.

    A great book

This is my first time reading this author and I found her to be exciting and down to earth with her subjects. Will have to find more of her books to read. A good book that you don't want to put down until you finish it.

    Totally enjoyed this book.

I really appreciated the humor in this book. I found myself laughing out loud. The characters are hilariously written and the dynamics between the main characters (apt word characters)and periferal characters. This book has a (sort of) mystery plot and romantic interests but I felt Jodi's humor more the attribute. Really good read.

REWRITING MONDAY is a superb journalistic romantic suspense

After the fiasco that almost killed her in Chicago, reporter Pepper Malone leaves the Windy City financially broke and more critical spiritually broke as she broke the journalist rule by getting too close to the story; under the covers is too close. She goes to her mother's hometown of Bailee, Texas near Dallas. Realistically Pepper knows she cannot face the music of Chicago or start over in Dallas. New publisher Michael McCulloch hires her as a reporter for his family paper the Bailee Bugle.

Mike knows his journalist dreams were buried with his late father and older brother as the family paper needs him to survive. However, someone obviously wants the Bailee Bugle to fail and is willing to kill to achieve the goal. Pepper believes the threats are aimed at her, but Mike thinks otherwise.

With a nod to screwball journalist comedies like The Front Page, His Girl Friday and Teacher's Pet, but with a much more serious tone, Jodi Thomas provides a strong thriller. Fans will say we like Mike who shows passion and tenderness as he sacrifices his dream, but wins a greater prize: the love of Pepper; that is if they survive. Pepper is much more complex, but readers will admire her courage as she considers flight rather than fight like she recently did, but with Mike's support and love stays. REWRITING MONDAY is a superb journalistic romantic suspense.
