When using topical prayer guides, the protestant who entrenches himself in his sect of Christianity can miss the fullness of a prayer tradition that other Christians have benefitted from. This guide will propel a believer into the worldwide stream of worship within the church calendar and elevate his prayer style as Mr. Moore, a fellow believer, shepherds him/her through. The style of writing is reverent, structured and elliptical, but if one has not grown up in this manner of prayer tradition, they will recognize the benefit and newness of this prayer perspective directed toward our mystical, mysterious God. Mr. Moore explains the need to return to the basics of prayer and start over anew, praying in the old book of prayer style with new scripture translations. In the foreward, he likens the need to freshen our prayer lives to the need to return to the basics in other areas such as jazz, to find inspiration and acuity. This book is an excellent exercise for a prayer group or church starting a program for Lent (Ash Wednesday), though this obviously is not, at this time :),condoned by Catholic hierarchy. Moore may be running through the Catholic tradition lobbing Protestants some of the treasures, but non-sectarians will see this perspective as another view of our Creator. Moore shepherds us well. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
