About the Author

Hermine Shahbazyan is a pianist, educator, and music specialist with over 25
years of experience working with students of all ages and backgrounds. Her
teaching blends classical training with a deep passion for inclusive education, child
development, and the therapeutic power of music.
From as early as she can remember, music has been an inseparable part of
Hermine’s life. She began playing piano at the age of three, and what started as a
childhood spark quickly became a lifelong calling. Her journey took root in the
foundational music schools of Armenia, continued through prestigious
conservatories, and evolved across universities and institutions around the world.
With every step, she not only honed her craft but also discovered how music could
change lives—starting with her own.
Her teaching philosophy is built on the belief that every student is unique
and capable. She creates personalized learning environments where students feel
seen, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential. Through structure,
creativity, and care, she helps her students build not just musical skill, but also
resilience, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.
Over the course of her career, Hermine has taught thousands of students and
led masterclasses internationally. Many of her students have overcome personal
and academic challenges, discovering strength and joy through the discipline of
piano. Their growth continues to inspire her every day.
This book, Rhythm of the Mind, is more than a guide to piano education—it
is a reflection of a life’s work rooted in the belief that music can heal, connect, and
uplift. It speaks to the power of persistence, passion, and the human spirit. Through
music, Hermine has witnessed transformation, and her hope is that this book will
serve as a source of encouragement and direction for educators, parents, and
learners alike. It is also a testament to the idea that dreams—no matter how ambitious—are
within reach. With dedication, compassion, and a belief in something greater, we
each can shape a better world—one note at a time.
