Rhythm & Romance (ASV)

All Music Guide - Michael G. Nastos
Titled Rhythm & Romance for a good reason, this decade (minus the 1942 recording ban) of mono sides for Ella Fitzgerald is an interesting cross-section of her work fronting and accompanying different bands and leaders. The ASP/Charly compilations are reliable in terms of sound reproduction values married with content for the dollar-per-square note, and this one comes heartily recommended.
