    Roach is Richer

As incredible as Buddy is was and always will be, here on "Figure Eights" Max definitely takes control of the dual--not so much in speed, stick and finger technique, where Buddy still has it over many of the top current drummers--but in melodic phrasing. Max here plays so many creative melodic 8 bar fugures between the snare and toms, and Buddy cannot compete on that level--speed fire ferocity attack Buddy is always better but for sheer creative sonoric melodies Max's textures are much richer.
