If you haven't read any Brautigan, you must. A voice of the sixties, even today these books are fun and connect with the reader. Trout Fishing in America is definitely my favorite, but you should also read A Confederate General from Big Sur.

Three of his best works in one. You must pick this up even if you already have it broken into three seperate manuscripts. I read mine on a train ride from St Louis to Scaramento. Three days... Three books in one. The free prose craftmanship leads us to draw the conclusion he is a master!

Richard Brautigan's Trout Fishing in America, The Pill versus the Springhill Mine Disaster, and In Watermelon Sugar by Richard Brautigan Excellent book of Richard Brautigans adventures, experiences and observations of life. While some stories are better then others, it is a good read overall. His whit and comical observations are extremely well thought out and written. I would recommend this book to everyone.

A friendly escape to a place only imagined where a river runs through the livingroom and the Tigers sing. I prefer to live in a watermelonsugar shack and read by watermelontrout oil.

I read this in high school and bought it for my teens. They said it looked good and would read it if for nothing else than to better understand my HS daze.
