    more from this reviewer

    Great for first time visitors

I got this book on the recommendation of a friend, and was very pleased with how helpful it was for my husband and I. Rick Steves gives a lot of interesting information on the past and present of the country, honest opinions of different sights, and great tips on what to do before/during your trip. DO NOT rely solely on this book for the days/hours places are open, though - some places like Tourist Information offices change their hours seasonally. Get a good map, too. The ones in the book are good if you are staying in a specific part of town, but you'll probably want one that shows a greater expanse of area. We used the Moleskine City Notebook for Dublin - great pocket-sized book with excellent maps, pockets for our bus passes, train tickets, etc. and had plenty of room for us to write notes.

    The "Bible" of travel guides!

This was out first trip out of the United States. I purchased other guides and NOTHING was as comprehensive as this book. I have always watched Rick Steves on PBS and loved his take on every country I watched. With his book about IRELAND, everything noted was extremely helpful. Starting at the transportation leaving the airport to every mention noted. We truly enjoyed out trip. When I take another trip abroad I will CERTAINLY purchase another one of his books as the ONLY book I will need to purchase. Thanks Rick for the great tour of Ireland, we did not see it all but when we visit again you will be the tourguide.

Another great Rick Steves travel guide

The Ireland travel guide from Rick Steves is a great way to plan your trip. He tells you what to avoid, what not to miss, and includes great details like the exact time to arrive at particular destinations to avoid the tourist buses!
