    Difficult to use

As a longtime devotee of Rick Steves' travel guides, I was very disappointed to find that, in the Nook for PC version, the so-called index provides no page numbers or links! How can you call that an index? It's just a list. "Somewhere in this 900+ page book, you can find something about this topic, but we aren't going to tell you where." The actual content of the book is excellent, as always, but its usefulness is seriously hampered by this lack. The only way to find what you're looking for, is to use the Table of Contents to get to the general section, then scan through all the pages to find the specific information you want. Since I'm planning to take my PC notebook on my trip, I thought it would be great to download the guide, rather than carry the book in my luggage. Now I feel like I've been cheated and wasted my money.

    Useful guide

We recently returned from a month in Italy including the Dolomites, Venice, the Amalfi Coast, Naples, and Rome. Rick's book was a very practical and useful guide. I carried my Nook in my purse and referred to the book as we explored this beautiful country.

    Not recommended in Nook format

I purchased the Nook format with the idea of saving space in my suitcase. I also traveled with others that had the same edition in paperback. I found the nook difficult to use in that index did not have any page nos, TOC page nos were limited so was left with a lot of sorting to find specific areas. To find something in a reasonable time was impossible. We ended up leaving the NOOK at the hotel and using the paperback. I guess the nook could have worked if I would have spent hours learning the subject material location, but who has time to do this?

Not good with Nook App on IPAD

I really like what Rick has to say. However, on my IPAD the maps are totally useless to me. They are tiny and you cannot enlarge them. I asked B & N if I could exchange for a hard copy and got no response at all.

IPAD Nook app also takes forever to load pages and the index is a real pain. Wonder if Nook has the same problem?

If you buy this book, get a hard copy!
