Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

In the fifth entry in this popular series, Ricky Ricotta celebrates his birthday by battling General Jackrabbit, evil ruler of Jupiter, who has traveled to Earth to clone mutant dinosaur-jackrabbits. Along with his Mighty Robot, Ricky and his cousin Lucy outwit the Jurassic Jackrabbits, capture the villain, and still have time for birthday cake and ice cream. Special features include instructions on how to draw the characters as well as several "flip-o-rama" chapters that let readers animate the action. Large black-and-white cartoons appear on every page. This slight bit of silly fun will appeal to beginning chapter-book readers.--School Library Journal, December 2002

Children's Literature - Vicki Foote
Ricky Ricotta, a mouse cartoon character, has Mighty Robot as a friend and helper. It is Ricky’s birthday, and they are going to the museum to see dinosaur skeletons. Ricky is not happy when he finds out that his mother has invited his cousin, Lucy, to go with them. On another planet, Jupiter, an evil ruler named General Jackrabbit is planning to take over all the planets in the solar system, starting with Earth. A series of events involving plenty of action including stolen dinosaur skulls, cloning, and battles come next. Pages with small colorful cartoons show some of the action. “Flip-o-rama” directions tell how to animate the action by flipping the pages in five parts of the story. Lucy and Ricky work together along with Mighty Robot to defeat General Jackrabbit and his crew. Part of the “Ricky Ricotta’s Mighty Robot” series, this book has brief text that can be read by independent readers. The bold and lively illustrations make up a large part of the book. A table of contents is included. Reviewer: Vicki Foote; Ages 7 to 10.

My daughter first read this book for her class. The "Flip-O-Rama" pages are a big hit. I admit, I like that little feature too. The story it's self is fun and just long enough to hold a childs interest. We also like the "how to draw" section in the back of the book.

If you like fiction books then this is a great book for you. Ricky Ricottas Mighty Robot vs. the Jurassic Jackrabbits is mostly about a mouse and his giant robot that fight evil villains from other planets. Ricky is a kid who has a tough robot. General Jackrabbit is mean and evil. The setting takes place in a small town. This is like the book Captain Underpants because they both fight evil villains. This is a great book for kids of any age because the book has comedy and action.
