Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

Praise for the RICKY RICOTTA'S MIGHTY ROBOT series (original editions, published 2000-2005)

"An adventure story with great appeal . . . With barely more text than a long easy-reader, this title will be a heaven-sent choice for kids with reading difficulties." --SCHOOL LIBRARY JOURNAL

"It's easy to see how Pilkey's high-action, easy-reading chapter novel with a comic book feel would appeal to younger readers. . . . Silly good fun." --KIRKUS

Children's Literature - Carrie Hane Hung
Mr. Mosquito from Mercury is looking for a better place to live. On his view screen, he finds the conditions on Earth to be to his liking so he plans a massive Mutant Mosquito invasion to take over Earth. Ricky Ricotta and his Mighty Robot must save their town from the takeover attempt, but Ricky must finish three more problems on his math test before he can rescue the town. With Mighty Robot’s help, Ricky completes his test and the two are on their way to Squeakyville to save the day. Bright cartoon-like illustrations are on every page. During a portion of the battle, the story changes to a comic strip format covering the action. The final battle is comprised of a few “Flip-O-Rama” sections where the pages are flipped back and forth to animate the fight between Mecha-Mosquito and Mighty Robot; there are instructions on how to animate the pictures. This book is a part of the “Ricky Ricotta’s Mighty Robot” series. Readers who enjoy stories about superheroes may have an interest in Ricky and his Robot’s adventures as the pair battle villains. Reviewer: Carrie Hane Hung; Ages 6 to 8.

    A reviewer

This story is amazing. As a 4th grader I loved this story. As I read it I wanted to read more books in the series.

Great 'chapter book' for beginner readers.

My 6 year old son really liked this book. He is just beginning 1st grade and finding books that he looks forward to reading is difficult. As a beginner reader he doesn't like to see pages full of words. This book has only a few sentences on each page with large animated pictures. He is already asking for the other Ricky Ricotta books scheduled to come out. At the end of this book are pages which teach how to draw each character. My son is having a fun time drawing the characters.

    Ricky Ricotta's books

I read the Ricky Riccota's Giant Robot and I want to read the sequel. I've heard of other titles for the Ricky Ricotta's Giant Robot.
