More About This Book

Overview

In 1836, when she was nine years old, Cynthia Ann Parker was kidnapped by Comanche Indians. This is the story of how she grew up with them, mastered their ways, married one of their leaders, and became, in every way, a Comanche woman. It is also the story of a proud and innocent people whose lives pulsed with the very heartbeat of the land. It is the story of a way of life that is gone forever....

If you like historical novels, you will love this one!

I don't usually get too emotional over a book but I actually cried at the end. Ms. Robson did a wonderful job of bringing the Comanche's to life along with the plight of one young girl born white but lived most of her life with the comanche's and wanted to stay forever with her comanche family!

    My favorite book, bar none!

I have re-read this book several times since I first read it twelve years ago. It is a remarkable novel. St. Clair really gets the details of the Comanche way of life molded into a very captivating and enthralling book. I can still barely find a stopping point when I read this book.

The Best Book I Have Ever Read

This is without a doubt the best book I have ever read. I've read it atleast 15 times & cry everytime. It haunts me for months aftr I finish it. The story itself is fascinating but the way St Clair puts it together it phenomenal. I recommend it to anyone who has even a slight interest in the Comanches. I, like St Clair, was hooked once I read about Cynthia Ann Parker and would appreciate any books anyone has read about Parker

    Recommended read. Check it out.

Well written with very good details. The research in writing this book must have been very intensive to have the details it has about the life of the Native Americans.

A sad chapter in American history.

The Comanches really were savages, but then, so were the whites who exterminated them. This is a very sad chapter of American history.

    Best Book Ever

This is an amazing historical romance. I have had a Hardback or paperback copy of this book for better than 20 years and I read every year or two. I never get tired of this excellently written book. When I first started reading eBooks, this book was not available. I have purchased this book for my Nook Color, now I will always have a copy with me.

This is the Best Book I've Ever Read

What can I say that the others haven't? The detail with which Lucia writes makes you feel as if you were actually there, feeling the feelings, smelling the smells, tasting the tastes. It's the 3D of writing and it's better than the movie version. I actually lost weight reading this book, because I couldn't put it down long enough to eat!

    Favorite Book of All Time

Like another reviewer, I read this for the first time as a junior in highschool -- and have read it many times since. I've literally gone through 3 copies that have fallen apart from re-reading, and lending. You won't be disappointed.

    What a read!!!

I have read this book countless times and always fall back on it when I have run out of other material. It is definitely one of a kind, and just thrilling enough to fully entertain. The characters come alive with every turn of the page. It is a timeless classic that is sure to endure unlike its proud but tragic people. I can't wait to read it again and again!!!

Hands-down, the BEST book of all time!

I first read this book 22 yrs ago when I was a junior in high school, and I've read it countless times over the years. Because of my love for this book, I have purchased many, many copies and have given them as gifts to my favorite people. It truly has become a part of my soul. I experienced every human emotion while reading this book. Ms. Robson has a gift, and her books about Native American tribes are without equal, but this one tops them all! Just buy it! You will not be disappointed!
