Although this looks at first like a typical Brazilian jazz set, much of the music is actually a melodic brand of post-bop music. Guitarist Dave Stryker and bassist Andy McKee work together quite well, while reedman Steve Slagle a guest in the trio who is on every selection plays with plenty of fire on alto and soprano. "Africano" is particularly memorable while "Shanti" is a change-of-pace; an exploration of Indian-style music. Recommended.
