RIGHT AND REASON by Fr. Austin Fagothey, S.J. is one of the greatest and most successful Ethics books written to date. Though originally published in 1959 it remains remarkably contemporary and is easily accessible for most adults.
Phrased in non-technical language, RIGHT AND REASON is a thoroughly competent book in the philosophy of Ethics from the Aristotelian-Thomistic school of thought. The Classic principles of Ethics as laid out here are as valid today as ever, and anyone who attempts to grapple with our new moral questions, i.e. medical ethics, family issues, international relations, etc. - without solid grounding, is sure to flounder in guesswork, emotional thinking and mere personal opinion. This book stands as a beacon of common sense in today's confused world.

this book suck cox. wright a better one
This was the primary text of my initial ethics coursework. At the time I found the book to be well organized, clear and concise. For these reasons I have kept the book as a critical reference on the topic of ethics and I have used it to teach both courses and seminars. It does an excellent job of expressing Thomistic Ethics from his synthesis of Aristotelian and Platonic thought in a distinct way from Thomistic Moral Theology. A background in logic and Aristotelian ontology is necessary for a complete understanding of the text.
This book is very exensive in that it covers all the Thomistic norms in Ethics. If you want a book that explains ethics without fuzziness then Fagothey is your answer.
