More About This Book

Overview

?Our response to moral questions is not determined by politics, economics, personal preference, popular opinion, or human reasoning. It is, instead, grounded in what God has told us is true about ourselves and our world?.God?s Word offers sanity, clarity, and hope.?

--John MacArthur

Trusted Voices Offer Biblical Responses to Today?s Hot Issues

One of the greatest challenges facing Christians today is the powerful influence of secular thinking. From all directions we?re fed a constant barrage of persuasive?yet unbiblical?worldviews. This makes it difficult to know where to stand on today?s most talked-about issues.

The leadership team at Grace Community Church, along with their pastor, John MacArthur, provide much-needed discernment and clarity in the midst of rampant confusion. Using the Bible as the foundation, you?ll learn how to develop a Christian perspective on key issues?including?

  • political activism
  • environmentalism
  • the cult of celebrity
  • entertainment and escapism
  • homosexual marriage
  • abortion, birth control, and surrogacy
  • euthanasia and suicide
  • disasters and epidemics
  • immigration
  • God and the problem of evil

    "Scripture Coupled With Common Sense"

John Macarthur is a pastor/teachor at Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California. He also has a radio show, Grace to You.
His beliefs are in line with what I think is the majority of America. He stands for family values, taking responsibility, and placing God first. Though I think the majority of America stands for that, do they act upon that?
From video games to living green, Macarthur enlightens the hot topics of the day with scripture coupled with common sense. For example, he shows through scripture that we are to be stewards of the earth. Then, he warns against worshipping Mother Nature instead of God. He speaks of video games-the addiction and the types.
I read this book after a conversation with a friend about our community being female-ran. We talked about the men we knew in the community who were slackers who lived on the coat tails of their wives. In a nutshell, we blamed it on the men not wanting to grow up. We talked about the trend of men not doing whatever it takes to support their family as men in older generations did. We talked about seeing them as less than men.
There are references to this strange phenomenon in Right Thinking in a World Gone Wrong. He refers to these men as "real-life Peter Pans". He explains that living in a virtual world is not right, because it is not real. Real Christian men are not self-indulgent.
This book is about pressing issues. All Christians will benefit from this well-written book. Do not pass this up!

Evaluate your gray matter and this books use of Bible verses

I found this book very interesting. In most instances, I thought it was very accurate. In some areas I believe text from the Bible is not consistent with the point being made. In every case I reviewed my Bible and normally read the whole area to determine the context. I believe anyone but especially a Christian would benefit from reading this book. The book points out many areas of sin. While sin can be forgiven, the damages from the sin may not be avoidable. Continuing to sin can cause you and yours significant pain. I would recommend you read this book carefully, evaluate its content seriously, and go forward into life cognizant of the consequences of your actions.
