Children's Literature - Phyllis KennemerYoung people may find themselves engrossed in this interactive book. Some straight narratives of strange school happenings appear, but much of the information is relayed through "Whiz Kid Questions" with multiple choice responses, "Brain Busters" that challenge readers to figure out which of four statements are true, and "Bonus Games" featuring two lists for matching relationships. An additional "Pop Quiz" appears in the back, as does the "Answer Key." The "True/False" questions throughout have answer choices of "Believe It" and "Not." "Ripley's Scorecard" enables readers to rate themselves based on the number of correct answers on a scale ranging from "Barely Passing" to "Top Marks!" One chapter heading is "Odd-inary Students." Two others are "Nutty Professors" and "Weird and Wacky 101." Black and white photos and drawings accompany most entries. A center section of color photos repeats some entries and adds some new information. A fun book for all those who relish learning little known facts. "Ripley's Believe It or Not" series.
