Amazon #1 Bestseller in Family Life Fiction
A Lyrical Book of Healing

When high-powered attorney Helen Thompson discovers that her fifteen-year old daughter has been sexually assaulted, she takes drastic measures.

Finding herself in trouble, Helen must relinquish control and put her faith in a process she knows to be flawed. As a team of lawyers, therapists and women from a safe house help Helen and Phoebe find hope and healing, a sociopath lurks, waiting for his moment to strike.

A lyrical, dark fairytale that will resonate with fans of women's literature and psychological thrillers, RIPPLE delves into the nature of evil, without seeking to provide final answers to the issue of what makes a human commit evil acts. And while the author takes readers to scary places, she ultimately shines a light on the human condition and celebrates the triumph of the human spirit in the face of great tribulation.

Ripple will reverberate with you for a long time after you’re done, especially if you are a survivor.

This book is so incredibly rich.  And respectful.  E. L. Farris is a master writer and a master storyteller.

There are quite a few twists and turns you don’t exactly see coming.

As grim and gruesome as this story is, don’t miss it.

    Problems:
--Too often there is repetition of certain themes—Phoebe is described by everyone, several times over each, as a girl-woman in nearly the same terms/words because of her abuse experiences.  Author needs to change this up considerably or get the editing knife out.

--I found it a little disorienting that Phoebe and her mother are in the safe house, seemingly in a vacuum. You would not notice that anyone else is seeking shelter there.  Only towards the end are a woman and her children presented and found interacting with Phoebe and her mom, giving both of them some things to chew on.

I am not sure what one more review can add to a book that has been so positively endorsed. However, I feel compelled to try. Apologies if I add nothing worthwhile.
This is highly competent story telling that explores some of the worst abuses of the psychological and physical power often wielded by sick individuals. This book is worthy of wide readership. If it isn't available or willingly sourced by your local library, then libraries deserve to be the increasingly rare places that they are becoming.
So often in real life the most selfish of individuals are able to become the most powerful. When those individuals are other than `normal', which is all too often the case, then the honest and innocent suffer. This book is an exploration of that phenomenon. All power is only as good or evil as those that wield it, with our institutionalised procedures all too often only further empowering the abuser. It makes little difference to the victim whether the corruption is instigated in the close family, or from the highest of offices.
I find some comfort in thinking that great writing like Farris's can moderate the minds of at least a few sick individuals whilst reminding us all of the need to guard against all too prevalent terrors. More than that, I desperately need to be optimistically inclined towards this the book's undoubted primary goals. If only it wasn't the already well balanced that will find this story's agitating entertainment has a most satisfactory ending.

Life lessons can be learned from Ripple. To name but a few is that we are all created equally, not one person is better than the next, and therefore we should not judge. Another is that life is so preciously short we should spend it with the people who matters most to us. But the lesson that really hit me right between the eyes is that no matter what type of abuse took place, you never asked for it and you most certainly never deserved it. Well done E.L. Farris for bringing these and so many other messages across! Its a book that strings your emotions along from the word go. Whether you were abused or not, or even maybe being the person who is abusive towards someone, this is an absolute must read!

This book really helped me understand what a childhood friend went through. She suffered abuse from a relative. I never understood why she never confided in me, but thanks to this book I think I understand why she couldn't.
This was a very well written book and as much as I hate to say I enjoyed it, I really did. It had it's dark moments, but it was also full of great and charming characters.

I have never personally been the victim of sexual abuse. Or abuse of any kind really. It breaks my heart to read books like this KNOWING how real it is. Knowing that right now there are little girls suffering this kind of life.
I really liked the character of Helen. Put in her situation, I’m pretty sure I would do the same thing!Phoebe was amazing as well. Strong yet fragile all at the same time. All of the characters were great and the story was flawless.
You definitely won’t see the end coming!
Of course this book is great for anyone who was/is a victim of abuse and those who work with them, BUT it is also a must read for EVERYONE in my opinion. Thanks to the author for writing such a great story.

The beginning started out a little crazy with a lot of information very quickly. It definitely ended up evening out though, into a great and well written novel.

The characters were well developed, and even with it being a hard subject to discuss it was very well done.
Bravo to the author for having the courage to write this book.

I'm not sure how the author was able to make the characters so real and three dimensional, but she definitely did.

You could really feel Phoebe and Helen's pain. There were definitely other great characters like Cassandra and all the wonderful people at the shelter.

    Worth reading for sure.

I think this book is a good read for anyone. I have never been the victim of sexual abuse and this book still touched me deeply.

Even though it is fiction, I think I remember watching a "Snapped" episode that had a similar storyline. The fact of the matter is, stuff like this happens.
We all need to be aware and help the victims of abuse in any way we can.

This book deals with some difficult material, but it is a book that needed to be written and it needs to be read. This story grabbed me from the get go. The characters are so well developed, to the extent that I could feel their pain and their fear and guilt, but also their hopes and dreams for a better future. This is a must read, for survivors and all others. Hope and healing starts with one ripple: one hand held, one voice heard, one ear to listen, just one person who cares enough to help. That is all it takes, just one, and the ripple goes on and on. Very well written book , I highly recommend to all. No matter how difficult the subject , you need to read to understand. Although this is a work of fiction, it could happen to any one of us, therefore I find there to be a strong basis of fact in this book. I know, I'm a survivor. Please read this, it is a definite must read , if only so you can understand and maybe start that Ripple. Thank you to the author for writing this, I commend you.
