Riptideby Frances Ward Weller, Robert J. Blake (Illustrator)
Riptide Windjammer was not as common name for a dog, but then Rip was not a common dog. Certainly when Zachary's father brought home the soft and golden pup to keep Zachary company, no one knew that Rip would live up to his name.

It is a lovely story that was my son's favorite, made more special because the story is true. The paintings used as illustrations are beautiful. I give this book as gifts to students and teachers in reading classes; my dog, Riptide - yes named after the famous Rip - is a therapy dog and the children in all grades in grammar school love to hear the story.
I Thought this wa a very good book. When I was younger I always liked this book, because it was about dogs! I love dogs! I hope others will enjoy it too! Buy it for all ages!
The character of Riptide is based on a true story. Knowing this will make this picture book even more nail-biting suspensful as Riptide's adventures on the coast take an unexpected turn. Realistic illustrations make this book an all-around joy to read for children and adults alike.
