Overview

Now includes THE LOST CHAPTERS, four previously unpublished chapters with author commentary and editor notes!

Separated from his friend by a thousand miles and unable to return to The Realm of Glimpses himself, Aidan Thomas needs a way to reach Robby with the message of King Eliam, the one true King.

Enter Antoinette Lynn Reed, a bright but headstrong young lady who believes in the Scrolls of Alleble and has a passion for full-contact Kendo. When Aidan discovers that Antoinette has been called to enter The Realm, he solicits her help to find Robby's Glimpse before it is too late.

When she arrives in Alleble, Antoinette finds the kingdom is in turmoil. Alleble's allies are inexplicably beginning to turn away, renouncing former ties with King Eliam. And there are rumors that the dark Prince of Paragory is seeking an ancient evil to crush Alleble once and for all.

Can Antoinette and a team of Alleble's finest knights learn the secret of Paragory's growing power? And will they be able to stop the Rise of the Wyrm Lord?

This new edition of The Rise of the Wyrm Lord is designed like the Director's Cut DVDs of favorite movies and includes deleted chapters, extended scenes, author and editor commentary, and even new bonus adventure stories written especially for fans.

What to expect in The Rise of the Wyrm Lord, Lost Chapters Edition:

  • Deleted Chapter: Original Chapter 1, where readers can follow Antoinette Lynn Reed as she explores the landscape of a nightmare.
  • Extended Chapter: Original Chapter 2, Aidan's first day of high school where he finds himself coming face-to-face with the Trench Coat Clan, and their leader, the mysterious Blue-eyed Microscope.
  • Extended Chapter: Original Chapter 4, where readers will meet Aidan's peculiar new teachers and discover how his faith in King Eliam changes the way Aidan lives on Earth.
  • ALL NEW MATERIAL: Remember the feast in Queen Illaria's Castle? In the published version of Wyrm Lord, readers don't get to experience much of the festivities. Now, readers will see the infamous belching contest between Mallik and Sir Rogan. And best of all, learn how Farix, the most mysterious member of The Twelve, came to Alleble--an adventure you won't want to miss.

Editorial Reviews

VOYA
Do any of VOYA's faithful readers know the story of King Eliam? He was a powerful ruler in the great kingdom of Alleble. All of his subjects were loyal to him, save one. Darkness fell over the great Realm and King Eliam was slain. His death brought about the Schism, a belief that the Realm was now split between two worlds. The Realm would not become whole again until all believers were united and the darkness defeated. Aidan Thomas, an average teenage boy, has become a part of this story. He had read the stories of King Eliam, but did not believe until he was thrust into the world of Alleble. Now it is up to Aidan and his friends to destroy the evil that threatens Alleble and the Realm. Batson peppers his books with Christian symbols and ideals. The concept of placing one's faith in a situation that will bring about everlasting life is found in almost every other chapter. Many readers may find these novels derivative of C. S. Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia series. What might be of most help to the reader are lists of characters and places that Batson includes in his novels. He even provides a pronunciation guide for those names that are especially difficult to decipher. The novels are well written, and the narrative moves quickly. Readers will become engrossed in King Eliam's world because of the vivid imagery that Batson uses to describe the Realm and its people.
School Library Journal
Gr 6-8-The sequel to The Door Within (Tommy Nelson, 2005) opens a few weeks after Aidan Thomas has returned from the kingdom of Alleble, located in The Realm, where he trained to be a knight to fight the minions of the evil Paragor the Betrayer, King Eliam's nemesis. He meets Antoinette Reed, a classmate who also has knowledge of The Realm. This time, the plot turns on her adventures as she travels from Alleble to Yewland to convince the queen to align herself with King Eliam and discover whether Paragor has awakened the Wyrm Lord as a weapon against Alleble. However, Antoinette's task is somewhat muddled by Aidan's entreaty for her to find his friend's Glimpse and convince him to turn away from Paragor. There are some good imaginative elements here, but the Christian allegory is heavy-handed and unwieldy: science and logic are incompatible with faith and belief, and much emphasis is placed upon whether or not the people of Earth actively believe in the stories of Alleble (and therefore, ensure their salvation) without the compelling Gospel counterparts. The dialogue is much improved from the first book, but it still clunks along in parts where contemporary dialect is invoked. An additional purchase for collections that are in need of more fantasy trilogies.-Farida S. Dowler, Mercer Island Library, WA Copyright 2006 Reed Business Information.

    Rise of the Wyrm Lord

The second book in the series starts a little while after Aidan Thomas has returned from his adventure. He meets Antoinette Reed at school, a classmate who also has knowledge of The Realm. I like this one ALOT the wrym lord was really cool, in an evil sort of way. Yet Good will triumph with the dawn.

    Action and Suspense!

Antoinette Reed has always been smart. She's in honors everything at school, and she's been a follower of King Eliam since she was seven. When she sees the artwork of new kid at school, Aidan Thomas, she realizes that he, also, knows about The Realm. They become friends, and when they recognize that she has been called to The Realm, Aidan asks her to look for the glimpse of his friend, Robby, who he fears is in league with Paragor.
When she enters The Realm, Antoinette plunges into adventures like she's only dreamed of. Though she is named Twelfth Knight on a crucial, diplomatic mission to Yewland, she loses sight of the objective and deviates from her assignment, raising all the stakes. She goes after Kearn, Robby's glimpse, attempting to turn him away from his glittering path of destruction and to King Eliam.
When Paragor releases the capstone of his plan, The Realm is plunged into a fierce battle for survival.

In this, his second book, Mr. Batson's writing style has matured and the entire flow of the writing is of a higher caliber than its prequel. Throughout the whole book, the action and suspense only intensifies. Be forewarned - the book ends at a monstrous cliffhanger. Be sure to have the sequel, The Final Storm, on hand when you finish!

(Sorta Spoiler alert for those who have not read book 1) On ear

(Sorta Spoiler alert for those who have not read book 1)

On earth, Aiden Thomas is having trouble getting back into his normal routine. He keeps having scary nightmares about the Betrayer, Paragor. His mom thinks he is crazy, how he talks about his adventures in the Realm. But when he discovers that he is not the only one who believes in the one true King, things get much more exciting!!

Antionette Reed is living a normal life; sports, school, except for one thing. She and her family follow King Eliam, the one true King. When she meets Aiden and figures out that she has been called to enter the Realm of Alleble, she realizes that following King Eliam is no small thing!!

Wayne Thomas Batson is a excellent storyteller, who weaves this amazing tale of valor, hope, and Good and Evil. If you are over the age of 9 and love action, adventure, and a good story I would recommend this book to you!

    Another fantastic adventure!

Picking up where the first book in the trilogy left off, I was once again quickly drawn into the world of Aiden and his new friend, Antoinette, and the marvelous world of Alleble threatened by a sinister Paragor intent on freeing the infamous Wyrm Lord and overtaking Alleble. If you love epic tales of adventure along the lines of Lord of the Rings you will love the Door Within trilogy. Check it out today!

    Rise of the Wyrm Lord

In the continuation of The Door Within trilogy, author Wayne Thomas Batson weaves another masterful story about the mirror realm.
This time it is Aidan's new friend Antoinette Reed who is called into the Realm shortly after Aidan meets her. After entering the Door Within, Antoinette is called to be the twelfth knight in a mission to Yewland. What follows is a harrowing journey through the mysterious Blackwood in which they find the hiding place of the Seven Sleepers. However, they finally make it to see the queen of Yewland. They discover that some Paragor knights have just recently left and go after them. Because of a rather unfortunate short-cut, Aelic (Aidan's Glimpse) and Antoinette arrive before the others. Antoinette learns that Paragor's right hand man Kearn, is actually the glimpse of Robby, Aidan's friend. While in our world Antoinette was asked to try to reach him for King Eliam. Antoinette barely stops Aelic from killing Kearn and he escapes. Later that night, Antoinette sneaks out of the castle at Yewland and takes a dragon to Baen-Edge. While there she finds a young Yewland girl who is being sold as a slave and buys her with her sword and sets her free. The continue after Kearn until Antoinette is captured by him. Paragor has released the Wyrm lord to wreak havoc on the free nations of the realms. Will the armies of Alleble hold fast or will they break before the Wyrm lord?

The Rise of the Wyrm Lord: Second in the series

In the second book in the trilogy by Whayne Thomas Batson, Aidan is having new troubles. Summer is over, and he has to go to a new school. Thinking he won't know anyone, he goes anyway, knowing that he is never alone. He meets a girl named Antoinette, who he discovers also believes! However, she hasn't ever been to the Realm. Aidan helps her, and she travels to the Realm to go on a mission to Yewland. It seems Paragor is trying to get them as allies. When they get there, they find that Paragor got there first! Not only that, but Paragor is trying to wake the Seven Sleepers and the Wyrm Lord. Will he succeed? To find out, you'll just have to read the book.

    Epic Fantasy continued

Once Aiden arrives home, he befriends another believer in the Books of Alleble at his school. As he spends time with her, he realizes she is Gwenne's human double and is being called to Alleble herself. Aiden makes Antoinette promise to find his friend Robby's double once there. In Alleble, Antoinette heads out on a mission as the 12th knight, before abandoning the group to go after Robby, whom is on the enemy's side.
Sequels tend to have a hard time surpassing the first book in their series, but this is a spectacular exception with a nice cliffhanger.

Loved the Characters, Loved the Story.

Meet Antoinette Reed, a girl with fiery hair and spirit. She meets Aiden at his new school in Colorado, after he got back from the Realm. He discovers that Antoinette believes in The Story, the book version of the scrolls Aiden had found. Antoinette is called to Alleble, ready for danger. She is to be the twelfth knight on an important mission. Danger, friendship, courage, fun, and more are melded together to create a perfect piece of work.

    I Also Recommend:

    Gooooood book!

Rise of the Wyrm Lord was a great book. I liked The Door Within better than this one, but it is still a good read. One of the things that I disliked about the book was the character Antoinette. Others may like her, I didn't because she seemed nothing like her glimpse (her "twin"), Gwenne. I did like that Aiden (the main character from The Door Within) was still in this book. The story would go back to him every now and then and that made the book a lot more exciting. I also liked how, even though they were in different worlds, Aiden and Antoinette were working together to help their friend Robby come over to the side of King Eliam.
Overall, the book is very good and you should read it even if you didn't like The Door Within! In the end, it is all the pieces together that make the pie.

    Great book!!

Antoinette, after believing that Alleble exists all her life meets Aidan who knows how to get there. Finding out that she is needed there she goes on the adventure to put a stop to the rising of the Wyrm Lord. Will Paragor succeed? Can Antoinette stop him in the swirling of shadows and setbacks, or will she herself turn to the evil side?

    Never Alone

Antoinette Reed enters the realm and is trained to be a knight and help with a mission. She hears a myth of The Three Witnesses who will bring peace. There is an awakening of great evil in the realm. During the mission Antoinette sees someone that a friend on earth had asked her to help. With the choice before her, will Antoinette leave her companions and keep her promise? Or will she finish the mission that was set before her?

Worth reading if you liked the first book

The Rise of the Wyrm Lord is a very good story with enjoyable new characters and delightful new settings in addition to several that were already introduced in the first book of this trilogy. Another thing I enjoyed about this book was the addition of more fantastical creatures, and not all of them are quite as friendly as those in The Door Within.

The characters in this book face challenges that make you think about things in you encounter your own life. Because of this I think that anyone can take something away from reading this book.

I have no doubt that anyone who enjoyed The Door Within will also enjoy The Rise of the Wyrm Lord and recommend it to any fantasy-lover.

    Blue Eyed Microscope

    Rise of the Wyrm Lord

This is one of my all time favorite books!

The story picks up were 'The Door Within' left off.
On the first day of school Aidan's life looks poor. He is back on earth and no one believes him when he tells them about Alleble. Robby isn't returning his e-mails and his Grampin is dead. Can his life get any worst?
Then he meets a girl named Antoinette. Who is this blue eyed microscope?

I LOVE this book and the main reason is because of the characters. Wayne T. Batson is gifted in creating GREAT characters that you have to love.

GREAT book! I would recommend this and all of Wayne Thomas Baton's books in a moment.

    Great!

This is the second book of a wondrous, thrilling, and page-turning series by Wayne Thomas Batson. In this, Antoinette Reed, a friend of Aidan Thomas, is called to Alleble by king Eliam the Everlasting. Once she arrives, she discovers that she must pass three tests to become a swordmaiden of the realm. She passes all three, and is dubbed Swordmaiden of Alleble. She also receives Gwenne's old sword, Daughter of Light. Finally, Antoinette and a party of eleven others depart to Yewland, because messages from the queen show that Paragor is up to his trickery again, and is deceiving the Yewlanders. But will they even arrive to Yewland arrive? Passing Paragor's forces and through the Blackwood, a dark and forbidding forest, will be no easy task. And even if they arrive, what next? Will Antoinette and her friends have the ability to stop Morgui from waking the Seven Sleepers and the Wyrm Lord before it is too late? Because if they fail, the fate of Alleble may change for the worse.
