Overview

Book three of the NYT bestselling Maverick Montana series.

Friends with benefits was never the plan…

Melanie Jacobs is in trouble. With three jobs—including running her ranch—and dwindling funds, she’s exhausted. Not to mention desperately trying to hide a secret. Unfortunately, her best friend Colton Freeze knows all too well that’s something is going on, and he won’t give up until he knows exactly what he needs to fix.

Then Colton learns the truth—Melanie’s future happiness rests in the fickle hands of fate, and her chances for having a family are shrinking with every passing day. Her only comfort is Colton, but when a heated argument between them turns into an even hotter kiss, the boundaries of their friendship are erased, leaving only a scorching-hot hunger for more.

Every kiss—every touch—is a stolen pleasure. But will their new friends-with-sexy-benefits arrangement bring them closer together, or destroy everything they once shared?

    Not the best

I love Rebecca Zanetti's books but this one was one of the worst. It is slow and unfocused for much of the story, and rushed (and very cheesy) in the end. I was particularly disappointed because Colton and Mel were some of my favorite characters, but their relationship did not build up steadily. It seemed to inflate, then deflate, and back again. And then bam, cheesy HEA on your face and epilogue. There were also a lot of other things going on around them, which did not substantially add to the story and were distracting. A pity, because the premise was good and this author usually writes great romance.

I read Rising Assets immediately after a really depressing and frustrating read, thinking that I needed something hot, fun, and passionate with very little drama or angst to get me back into a decent mood. Rising Assets was that and much more being one of my favorite types of romance: friends-to-lovers! Add in sexy, bossy cowboys, and loving family and I was back in book bliss!

Melanie, Colton, and Hawk have been best friends while growing up in the small town of Mineral Lake, Montana. Melanie has always felt an attraction for Colton but never wanted to take it to the next level because she’s the many women come and go and didn’t want to ruin their relationship for a short time of passion. When Colton comes back from college and finds out Melanie is having some financial difficulty, he steps in to help and won’t take no for an answer. Colton is more possessive since returning and in a heated argument, anger turns to lust and they cross boundaries. This couldn’t happen at a worse time because Melanie is looking to fool around, especially when her biological clock demands immediate attention.

Colton is shocked to find out Melanie is in trouble and didn’t share it with him. She’s working three jobs killing herself, and Colton is not about to just sit by and watch. Not when he has the ability to step in and help. More shocking though is the intense feelings he’s having for Mel, sure he’s always found her hot, but now he can’t fight his possessive and protective feelings he has for her, especially when he finds out what’s really at the bottom of all Mel’s problems.

Everyone but Mel and Colt realize they’re meant-to-be, and it’s just a matter of time before they clue in. The minute Colt returns you can feel the sexual tension pulsing between these two! Like I said in the outset I wanted a romance with little angst, and that’s what I got. Instead, I had fun with the push and pull, and the payoffs were flipping hot! His bossy and controlling ways transferred to the bedroom which made for some fiery scenes!

“I like to be in control in the bedroom, and you like giving it up.” She gasped and jerked away. “I do not.” Oh yeah. Cat and mouse. One of his favorite games—and one he’d bet Melanie had never played. He leaned in until his mouth rested against her ear. “Sure you do. I bet you’re wet right now.”

    Whoa!

I loved the small town and big family dynamic! Colt’s family, especially his mom was just lovely to Mel.
This romance was rich in a supportive cast, and I just love it when there’s a solid family/friend structure.

This is the third story in the Maverick Montana series, but you don’t need to read the first books to enjoy this. You do get glimpses of the previous couples, so this would be a treat for any who’ve read the earlier books. Hawk This is the second book I’ve read by Rebecca Zanetti and it won’t be the last.

    Fabulous

    ## This book was FABULOUS. I was hesitant because I didn't like Jake in "Against the Wall", the first of the series. I was so disappointed in that book that I ended up skipping Quinn's story. I was out of books so I gave in and bought this one. I'm really glad I did. I enjoyed it very much. The hero was OK, but the heroine really made this book for me. She was amazing in every way. The last two books I read had whiny, needy heroines so I was overjoyed with how strong Mel's character was. This book does stand alone but I certainly hope Hawk's story is next as we are left we a lot of unanswered questions. Highly recommended.

Once I picked this book up I couldn't put it down. That means I had to finish that "one more chapter" before lights out.

If you haven't read the first two books, Against the Wall and Under the Covers, you should really read them first. This is the third book in the series as with the other two books, very sexy. I love when an author can add a little comedy to make me laugh out loud, so my family gives me funny looks and shake their heads at me. The friendship/love between the three friends draws you in and makes you want more. I really do wish they would have had more page time with a "dream helper" named Bob, loved the comedy he brings to the story. Maybe the next book? (HINT HINT)

All in all I loved the book and look forward to reading the next.

    Can Friends Become Lovers? Yes!

Can forever friends become lovers? In Rising Assets, A Maverick Montana novel, by Rebecca Zanetti, the answer is a resounding yes!

Trying to keep her secret, Melanie Jacoby is exhausted working three jobs. Melanie’s best friend, Colton Freeze, has just returned to town, and is stunned that no one told him about Melanie’s struggles. Everything changes the moment the two of them share a hot and fiery kiss. Melanie is terrified to start a relationship with Colton since she is fully aware of how all of his past relationships have ended. As much as they try to say the kiss won’t change things, oh boy, did it ever. Colton is a serious alpha male who always has a life plan, and his relationship with Melanie has just turned his world upside down. Because of these confusing changes, Colton lashes out at Melanie on occasion, hurting her terribly. At times, Colton’s behavior makes him a difficult character to like wholeheartedly. Melanie’s quick wit provides many laugh-out-loud moments, which I just loved. Despite their bickering and occasional harsh words, this couple’s sexual chemistry is electric, and their light bondage game scenes are hot and playful. When Colton finally lets go of his life plan and truly professes his love, it’s a wondrous thing to see and had me cheering for this charismatic couple.

Terrific characters drive Rising Assets to the perfect happily ever after that Melanie truly deserves.

I purchased this book for my personal library.

I liked the characters in this book. I also liked the story, the love story was sweet. I’m not sure that I liked the rough sex, even though it was consensual, it was still violence against women.
This was certainly not the best book in this series.

Ever since Melanie Jacobs lost her grandfather, the mere thought of a social life let alone dating is out the window.  Running their ranch and waitressing takes up all of her time, so it’s no surprise how her best friend Colton Freeze knows when she is in need of help.  But the kind of help Melanie needs isn’t something you ask of your best friend.

Colton knows Melanie needs help and after finding out exactly what she needs he’ll be damned if any other man is going to give it to her.  It’s his obligation as the best friend to help, right? Melanie will just have to get over it!  But all it takes is one steamy kiss to turn things upside down and have him wondering if this is more than just a favor.

Melanie and Colton will have you reading until your eyes can’t stay open.  Their chemistry flows so easily it’s hard to imagine why these two never dated to begin with.  They bicker like a married couple and make out like horny little teenagers.  Put that together with the small town atmosphere and how close their family is and you just end up getting good vibes all around!

If you want a nice easy read that will give you a feel good mood in all the right places *wink* then Rising Assets is the book for you!

It was always Melanie, Colton, and Hawk. Hawk always knew there had been some attraction between Melanie and Colton but they both fought it in the name of friendship. Melanie has some female issues and Colton decides no other man will do and he wants to help her work out those problems. Will their friendship get in the way this time?

Fantastic story! Colton, the sexy business executive who fills out a suit just as nice as a pair of jeans and a cowboy hat. Melanie is the beautiful, sexy rancher with way too much pride and sass. Hawk is the big, burly and sexy military man/rancher. These three make quite the trio in friendship and business. But it's Melanie and Colton who are burning up the sheets. The story flowed smoothly and character development was perfect. The author introduced you to the whole family without having them take over the story. This is the third book in the Maverick Montana series but this book can be read as a stand alone. I loved it and I can't wait to read the first two and more that come later.

RISING ASSETS is the third storyline in Rebecca Zanetti¿s contem

RISING ASSETS is the third storyline in Rebecca Zanetti’s contemporary, adult, romance MAVERICK MONTANA series focusing on the Lodge/Freeze family and the people in their lives. This is Colton Freeze (CEO of Lodge-Freeze Enterprises) and Melanie Jacobs‘s (ranch owner) story. A friend to lovers storyline RISING ASSETS focuses on the push and pull of a friendship that will find our couple in love and none the wiser.
RISING ASSESTS follows down-on-her-luck Melanie Jacob as she struggles with three jobs while holding down the ranch her grandfather left her after he died. But money is tight and Melanie’s health issues have burned through any savings she had stored. Enter childhood friend Colton Freeze-the man with whom she has been in love most of her life and the last person she is willing to bare her secrets and dreams.
The storyline is a friends to lovers trope with our couple unaware of the direction of their relationship. While the entire town has placed a bet on Colton and Melanie’s love life, our couple is oblivious to the whispers of their hearts.
The world building continues from the first two instalments with the inclusion of many of the previous storyline characters for a familiar feel. The characters are likeable; no one has plans to destroy the relationship or the love. This is a story about a close knit town and family who are supportive but meddling; friendly but concerned; loving and willing to give a little push when someone is lost and is having a difficult time finding their way home.
The relationship between Colton and Melanie is sensual and the sexual tension is palpable. These are two people who have been in love with one another for most of their lives but are too stubborn and afraid to admit the truth.
Rebecca Zanetti pulls the reader into a romantic storyline where love definitely does conquer all; where friendship leads to romance; and where a small town knows a little too much about the personal lives of everyone who lives in and around.

I read anything Rebecca Zanetti writes and I'm never disappointed. I love that she can make me laugh right out loud or touch my heart to the point of tears. This book did both.
