Coming home again to Keeneston! Definately a must read in Kathleen Brooks' Bluegrass series!! Marshall Davies is now the sherriff - and he just cannot help himself from picking on former model now vet Katelyn Jacks. Could Marshall have a bit more competition then he can handle as Katelyn and Ahmed get closer while she tends to a dog brutally mauled and used in an international dog-fighting ring? I think this is the best yet in the Bluegrass series! I absolutely loved this book! I chuckled outloud well into the early hours of the morning as I devoured this lastest installment. Poor Marshall LOL!!!

I have really enjoyed all of the books in this series. I want to see Ahmed's story. Doesn't seem fair that he always has to give up the girl. Can't wait to read about everyone again.

Another great book in the Bluegrass series. This is the story of Marshall the town sheriff. He is the new sheriff and has a one night stand with Katelyn, a spoiled rich girl model. Or so he thinks. He can't seem to get her off his mind, especially since she is the one to sneak out. She is the new veterinarian in town and has to see him often. Many weird things have been happening and throws them together. Many dogs have been found around town and they are badly injured. Katelyn comes to the rescue and saves the dogs. This story was very good and easy to follow along. Loved the story and did not want to put the book down. All my old favorite characters make an appearance. Definitely want to read the whole series, but can just read this only. Better if read in order. My favorite character is Ahmed and hopes he finds love and gets his own book. Can't wait for the next in the series.

Does this get any better? I'm on page 160 and it's just so painful to read. The writing is just so awkward and juvenile. I struggled through the first one in this series, but promised myself I would give it another shot. This offering is just too much work to actually enjoy.

This is a fun series, but this particular story could use a stronger rewrite. Rising Storm features the former model now veterinary surgeon, whose father is an obnoxious hotel chain magnate, and whose grandparents are full of old-fashioned southern charm, and her rough start relationship with Marshall Davies, now town sheriff, who is full of himself and makes erroneous assumptions about the heroine's background and attitudes. Love the characters in the series, but this novel feels choppy. More background about who Marshall is, his family and the town history and characters is needed early on. Too much is dropped in that fans of the series will recognize, but first time readers who start with this novel will find choppy and confusing. The prologue would have been better pulled in as flashbacks - it feels disconnected from the rest of the story, and although the plot is driven by the dog fighting ring, the character development isn't smooth. The initial series, and later Ahmed's story are better. Nonetheless, this earns three stars for concept, occassional fun dialogue, and the way the story builds in the best and worst of rural small town life.

Having a bad day. Sit and read this funny and serious book. Mrs. Brooks does a great job of entertaining and educating us. Love all these characters. Looking foreward to the next book. Thanks.

Loved this addition to an already great series. I recommend the entire series of course, but this one will be fine as a stand alone read as well. The characters and their lives make for enjoyable fast paced page turning.

I don't do a lot of reviews but I love this author and this series. You just fall in love with the characters and have to just laugh out loud at things that happen. Can't wait for the next book in this series!

Great addition to the series, this one is probably my favorite so far. These are both romantic and suspenseful, and clean enough that you aren't ashamed to lend them to your family and friends. . I love the meddling Rose sisters, but please tell me there is a story for Ahmed in the future.

Ok story, not the best of the series. Lacked the detail the other stories had.

I always love going back for a visit in Keeneston. This book was very entertaining and let's you go back and see how some of the other characters are doing. I love Kathleen, she has become one of my favorite authors. Being from Kentucky, she does a great job of setting up that small town, country feel.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Another winner from Bluegrass country. It’s Marshall Davies turn to fall under the spell of a strong beautiful woman. Veterinarian Katelyn Jacks refuses to fall at the feet of the towns new arrogant playboy sheriff but keeps finding herself in bed with him. Ducking, dodging and avoiding him anyway she can only works so long in a town the size of Keenstone, Kentucky. When trouble in the form of organized dogfighting brings them together, Katelyn can’t resist the pull any more than Marshall can. All our old friends are back helping these two find each other, making this a complete and wonderful visit to the Bluegrass country. Ms Brooks shares with us the horrible nature of dogfighting without stomach turning graphics, and as always she brings enough belly laughs and chuckles to balance the serious nature of the crime they are investigating. Well done once again Kathleen Brooks.

Who knew there was so much criminal activity in small towns. We are introduced to some more of the residents of Keeneston, KY. They do blend in well with the rest of the citizens, at least some of them do. Dog racing is the current scandal and as evidenced by all the dogs they are well loved overall. So, who would do something so atrocious?

A 725 page (Nook scanning skips on page count) free book of a returning Keeneston, KY woman to set up her veterinary practice, and Sheriff Davies who has decided that the international model she once was is a spoiled rich girl. So the attracrion begins with town gossip, alcoholic one night stands, hidden sex, dog fighting rings, humor, juvenile romance. The story is disjointed and the dialog smaltzy but partly entertaining. Excerpt for new author included.
