Overview

Riven: The Soundtrack contains a selection of alluring ambient tracks by Robyn Miller, a composer who is also one of the creators of the CD-ROM games Riven and Myst. Although the music sometimes lacks definition, it is appealingly atmospheric, evoking the otherworldly images and stories of Riven. The soundtrack doesn't hold as much power when it's separated from the game, but it's still quite interesting, especially for dedicated fans of the game. [The CD's liner notes contain information about the game that is unavailable anywhere else, which may be of interest to hardcore gamers.]

This stunning album, is originally a soundtrack to one of the most popular adventure PC-game ever made. ''Enough to make a soundtrack?'', people ask me. Robyn Miller proves that he have the ability to be a famous Ambient/Electronica artist as well. The sound of this creation, is dreamy, spine-chilling, mysterious, and beautiful. All at the same time. No hefty beats, just a straight musical experience. It's not necessary to play the game, although it's a perfect description of the game as well! Tracks as ''Survey Island Theme'', ''Atrus' Theme'', ''Star fissure'' and ''Whark Room'' are majestic songs that will bury you (truly), in a cosy mood.
