I was swept away with the first book in this novel and this one definitely does not disappoint with the continuation of Caia's journey. This story is filled with even more tension between Caia and Lucien along with jealousy and betrayal. I personally loved being able to read from Jae and Ryders perspectives. They really are amazing supporting characters and I found myself caring about them and their story just as much as Caia and Luciens. Samantha Young reveals answers to questions you may have had in the first book along with leaving us with more mysteries to uncover in the 3rd book. I am a huge fan of this series.

River Cast (The Tale of Lunarmorte, Book #2) by Samantha Young Genre: Paranormal Romance | Young-Adult Swept into the world of the Daylight Coven, Caia is caught between her loyalty to the Daylights and her new insight into the hearts of the Midnights. As more obstacles are thrown in her and Lucien's way, Caia finds herself becoming further adrift from him and Pack Errante. With no one to turn to, Caia has to make the most difficult choice of all... Which Coven does she truly belong with? Not all is as it seems in this second addition of The Tale of Lunarmorte series when Caia agrees to learn more about her magical abilities and test her position within the Coven/s by actually training on-sight (with Lucien in tow!) at the Daylight's headquarters in Paris. Having discovered first hand that her powers are beyond what anyone imagined and continuing to struggle with her inner emotions toward Lucien and their "so-called" mating, Caia must once and for all, choose her role within the brewing supernatural war and decide just where her loyalties truly lie. Also, throughout this story, Jaeden, who has ran away from the Errante Pack because of deep (emotional and physical) wounds caused during her capture in Book #1, is being tracked down by the local Pack hunter, Ryder. Returning to her home and family after months of purposely breaking coven law by hunting other errant supernaturals, can be both a blessing and a curse, especially when magical talents of her own and her mate are shockingly revealed. Can both ladies adjust to the new demands placed upon them before the chaos of war absorbs them all? Book #2 really grew into two full stories, since the reader continued to follow Caia's adventures into taping the potential of her magic and dealing with Lucian while Jaeden had to learn about overcoming her devastating past while opening up her heart to another. Both stories were equally captivating and held a certain charm that made it easy for the reader to dig deeper into their eerily courageous world. Overall, the book smartly balances the little sparks of romance right along the fatal causalities of war, so each chapter really comes alive--full of humorous wit, tragic turmoil, and daring discoveries--Enjoy! Likes: Lucian is as determined as ever to keep Caia safe (and by his side!), so much so, that his sacrifices, for her, make him an even more delicious character to drool over and cheer on. Also, Ryder was a great comical/up-beat balance to Jaeden's down-trodden personality that together, they created some delightful chemistry. Dislikes: Again, not much of a Coven fan. The Daylight/Midnight Coven parts in River Cast really dragged for me and their dullness took away much of the excitement within the story... almost so much that I was tempted to begin skipping sections/chapters -- not good!

Now that we have been eased into the history behind the Midnight Coven and the Daylight Coven, the second installment of the Tale of Lunarmorte focuses on eighteen-year old Caia Ribeiro. Caia is grown more comfortable with her half-lykan, half-water magik along with being half-Daylight and half-Midnight. Sounds crazy but that is just what the gods wanted. She will end this war.it is destined. After rescuing Jae from her crazy uncle who tortured Jae, Caia lets Jae run away to be by herself for awhile. Caia knows what Jae went thru; she saw it all via Ethan's eyes. Caia is able to tap into Midnights and see what they are sometimes seeing and feeling. What is new is that Caia has been noticing that all Midnights are not evil. Some even are being tortured by their own kind! Caia is asked to come to the sanctuary to begin her training by Marita. Even though Caia and Marcus are keeping their distance for now she stills brings him along and wants him close by. Things are not what they seem and there are more nefarious plans going on. Caia discovers some earth shattering secrets that will throw everyone into a tail spin and put the pack at risk of being attacked. Jae has discovered that she now has telekinetic abilities. It scares her to death. There is now way that the Pack is going to accept her now. But she needs to go back. Caia has sent for her and Ryder is going to fetch her. Unfortunately Jae will have a little tag along named Reuben. Reuben is a vampire who no one knows how old he is. He and Jae have been hunting rogue vampyres together since she left the pack. You get the sense that something is not right but he seems so dedicated to Jae that you feel that he is in love with her and jealous that Ryder comes in and sweeps Jae off her feet. In River Cast we have two budding romances building. Marcus and Caia of course are having their ups and downs but secrets will bring them closer and Ryder and Jae find each other through the craziness that surrounds them. I still love the characters and now the series seems to really be taking off and I can't wait to read how this will all end! Very appropriate for the YA paranormal readers.
