Overview

When he fell in love, he fell hard. When he lost her, he lost his will.

Drugs, sex, and rock and roll--in that order--became his life.
River James, the drummer for Steel Total Destruction, loved the brotherhood he formed with his unlikely best friend, the band mates from Steel Total Destruction, and the family he found in his label, Forever Four.
Then one tragic accident takes it all away in the blink of an eye. Twisted metal, shattered bones, crushed dreams, and torn wreckage causes deep, dark secrets to be revealed. One collision causes him to lose all hope, with no one but himself to blame.
Now facing harsh realities, which have never been one of River's strengths, he turns to the sure things in life: drugs and women who oh so willingly give themselves to a tall, dark, and tattooed rocker like him.
Will he find himself in the wreckage of twisted metal and crushed dreams? Or will he lose his way in the smoke and debris?

The first person in her family to graduate from high school and college, Keanna Sutton is flying high on her accomplishments and hard work. She has the career and man of her dreams ... or so she thought until she finds out he is cheating on her. Ending the relationship, she begins rebuilding her shattered self-esteem.
Then a chance run-in with a tall, dark, and handsome, silver-tongued drummer tests her strength and ability to hold her own tongue while trying to ignore the implausible attraction to a man she knows will be no good for her.
Now a second run in at O'Donnell's pub while under the influence of drink, music, friends, and a fight makes Keanna throw caution to the wind, and she finds herself getting rocked the only way a badass like River can: hard and nasty.
Will the hottest night of her life end there? Or will she lose herself in a man who gives no promises except the lady always comes first?

Editorial Reviews

Blog - Southern Babes Book
"Wow I'm not sure where to start. River James was a very heartbreaking, intense, emotional read for me. To many feeling were brought out by this book. I wanted to slap the hell out of River sometimes, then I wanted to hug him. At some point I wanted to throw my Kindle. Also laughed because yeah River maybe an @$$ but he's got a great sense of humor. 5 stars" ~ Southern Babes Book Blog
Obsessed With Myshelf - Heather L.
"Gritty, raw and chokingly real... River is flawed. Hurt. Tormented. This was my first Fields novel, but it won't be my last - this book isn't glossy or fluffy but rather a rough and fierce look at believable characters who are beautifully flawed. 5 stars" ~ Obsessed With Myshelf

Oh my goodness! What a book! River James has stolen my heart. I didn't expect to feel that way about him because of his extremely cocky attitude. Boy did my opinion change! River is a very troubled young man who has endured some horrific and traumatic events in his past. He is a very much "live in the moment" kind of guy, until he meets Keanna. Keanna is very independent and strong. She has some things from her past that push her to be this way. When these two meet, it is explosive. This is one very emotional and troubling ride from the first page to the last. River has a lot of things to get over from his past, a lot of acceptance to achieve and a lot of forgiveness to give. His growth throughout the story is amazing. This is a book of hope for anyone what has faced horrific events and turned to drugs or anything else to numb the pain. Keanna becomes a beacon of hope for River in the face of a life he has created in order to survive. Can these two survive the rocky road River faces? To find out, grab this one now! This series is great and I love all of the STD guys but River has become my favorite. The author does an excellent job of telling a difficult story. Be prepared to feel a full array of emotions in this book. You will laugh but you will also need the tissue box to be close by! Oh, and I don't think I have mentioned that River is super hot! Five huge stars for this one. (This is a book for the over 18 group due to sensitive subjects, sexual situations and language.) **ARC rec'd in exchange for an honest review**

This is one very intense emotional book. This book resulted in a book hangover. River really has some issues that make him one very messed person. He's on a crash course of destroying himself, but he just needs that one person to ignite the spark of change. A chance meeting creates an instant attraction between River and Keanna. River has a very dirty mouth and there is the use of drugs in the book so if that's not your cup of tea this one may not be for you. River's past pushes him to where he is today, but Keanna brings a new light in his life that he didn't see coming. Keanna is an independent tough woman, but sometimes she feels very vulnerable and she hates that. The antics with Keanna's big dog are hilarious especially when she's in River's care. Mj Fields' writing is just so good. I read the warning before the book she gives on what may not to appeal to all, but the way she's tells the story is done beautifully. She makes the tougher issues work without making them unbearable to read or a turn off. It just makes River that more lovable. River at first isn't too appealing, but trust me once you get into the book you have a whole new out look out on him. This book is wonderfully written with very strong characters.

Let me just say the whole series is now my all time favorite Rockers books. My love started with Memphis and is now with River. I can't wait for Billy. The book is well written and flows flawlessly. I love the obstacles that are overcome in this storyline. It has all the feels with some pee in your pants humor. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.
