Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Nicole Peterson
Have you ever wondered what a volcano is? This National Geographic book about volcanoes will answer common questions such as: What are volcanoes? How are they formed? Where are volcanoes located? What are the different types of volcanoes? Are there famous volcanoes in history? What happens when a volcano erupts? The book contains beautiful pictures of volcanoes erupting, red hot lava coming out of a volcano, mountains that are inactive volcanoes, and many consequences of eruptions. The first part of the book starts with the story of Mt. St. Helens, and the last chapter shows what it is like today. The text is interesting, scientific, and easily understood by children. The book contains a couple of diagrams and charts to help the reader understand more about volcanoes. The end of the book contains a section explaining how to write an A+ report, a glossary of terms, and books for further reading. This book is an excellent resource for students undertaking research projects about volcanoes.
