    Shakespeare in his own words

The Riverside Shakespeare is as close as one may hope to get to the original texts of the plays-- something Shakespeare never purposefully intended to produce. Each play is annotated with a complete editorial history. Take a look and see how much we've taken for granted, and marvel at the efforts of devoted scholars down through the ages. And there's lots of fun pictures, too!

The best annotated version of Shakespeare I have ever encountered

What can I say? Shakespeare is timeless and excellent. I cannot add any more that has not already been said about THE master!

I can comment that the annotations make this version especially accessible to literary amateurs like myself.

The description says that this is a two volume set. It is not. Also should have been wrapped in plastic and arrived partly damaged because of no packing materials.
Barnes and Noble has the worst shipping packing of any company.
This edition is the best in the world for Shakespeare. 5 stars for the book, 1 star for barnes and noble.
