Overview

Before Perry and Aria, there was Roar and Liv.

After a childhood spent wandering the borderlands, Roar finally feels like he has a home with the Tides. His best friend Perry is like a brother to him, and Perry's sister, Liv, is the love of his life. But Perry and Liv's unpredictable older brother, Vale, is the Blood Lord of the Tides, and he has never looked kindly on Roar and Liv's union. Normally, Roar couldn't care less about Vale's opinion. But with food running low and conditions worsening every day, Vale's leadership is more vital—and more brutal—than ever. Desperate to protect his tribe, Vale makes a decision that will shatter the life Roar knew and change the fate of the Tides forever.

Set in the harsh but often beautiful world of Veronica Rossi's "unforgettable" Under the Never Sky (Examiner.com), this captivating prequel novella stands on its own for new readers and offers series fans a fascinating look into the character of Roar. Poignant and powerful, Roar and Liv is a love story that will "capture your imagination and your heart." (Justine on Under the Never Sky)

My only complaint is that i wanted so much more. Only 75 pages which also included a preview to the next book. Great writing. Love the characters. Worth the read.

"Roar and Liv" is great. If you've read "Under the Never Sky," you'll definitely want to read this before you read "Through the Ever Night." If you're like me, you would have found a favorite character in Roar, the charming Aud that you meet in the first book of the trilogy. This novella will only deepen your love of the character, as well introduce you to Liv, the girl he loves. You'll see how his part of the story begins. It's a terrific prequel; something that demands to be read by any with a soft spot for a romantic story.

I loved this! It was fascinating getting to see things from Roar's perspective and finding out what happened before Under the Never Sky. Fast paced and full of action, Roar and Liv  was unputdownable. I highly recommend it.

Captivating and heart-achingly romantic, this novella takes place before Under The Never Sky and tells the story of Roar and Liv, best friend and sister to Perry. What starts out as friendship, grows into a love not only worth fighting for, but when threatened, a love worth risking it all for. The bromance between Roar and Perry is entertaining and just as endearing as the love between Roar and Liv. Vale gave me the creeps and my heart broke a little for Brooke over Perry's indifference. This is the perfect addition to this series and fans will not be disappointed!

I would give it a 4.5. Similar to the Hunger Games but a little more realistic(kind of). Love Perry.

Short and Sweet, I loved this novella as part of the Under the Never Skies series by Veronica Rossi. I have read a few of these recently-popular-side-note-character tales as of late, and while they add insight to the main story and are well written, they don't usually pull me in the way this one has. Not only was I won over by Liv's character, but I also loved learning more about Roar and his backstory. He is so pivotal to the main storyline and his history with Perry's sister Liv, gives so much explanation as to his connection with Perry, why he helps Aria, the criticalness of Perry's relationship with her and his soft spot for their affection towards each other.

This was a good in-between for Under the Never Sky and Through the Ever Night. Short and bittersweet.

I went into this novella without having read any of the rest of the series. I like to read things in Chronological order, which sometimes gives me a different outlook on the prequels when I finish them. That being said, this novella was extremely well written. I know nothing of this world, or the basic idea of the main part of the series, and yet after these 70 some odd pages, I'm hooked. I was reading it on my Nook and didn't have book one with me at the time and I was upset that I couldn't immediately get into the first book! I want to know where all of this was leading, I want to know what some of the words which weren't really explained in this prequel mean, and what the world is like in the dystopia that the author has created. I'm so excited for the rest of the series!
