Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Kathie M. Josephs
Everyone likes to hear and read about a hero. We like to hear about good winning over evil and the poor being able to find a better life. Robin Hood and his Merry Men fight the injustices and come out on top. This book includes a beautiful maiden, adventures, and ordinary men who become heroes. These are all the ingredients for a good read. This book will appeal to both girls and boys and can provide interesting discussions about stealing from the rich to give to the poor. Included at the end of the book is further information about the author and illustrator, along with a glossary, more information about Robin Hood, a map, and interestingly a group of both discussion questions and writing prompts. I was amazed that the first known writing about Robin Hood was written around 1500. With the story lasting over centuries, what better proof is there that Robin Hood is truly still a favorite among readers. The full-color graphics make an enormous impact on the story. Vocabulary has been well-selected. This book is an excellent resource that could be used for writing a summary, a book report, or a source for research. This book is written in graphic form that has always been a favorite of mine. It opens the door to reading for ESL students and reluctant readers and provides high interest at a lower level. Young adults who want to read anything they can get their hands on will also enjoy the graphic format and fast paced text. I highly recommend this book that is part of the "Graphic Resolve" series.

When she was younger, Jennifer Tanner loved to draw humorous comics about dogs who went on spectacular adventures through time and space, meeting alien creatures along the way. She's never lost that love for telling stories with pictures. She attended the Savannah College of Srt and Design where she received her degree in Sequential Art. Today she spends her time illustrating many comic books.
