Children's Literature - Carrie Hane Hung
Read and learn about the life cycle of a robin. Find out how the blue color of the eggs acts as a level of protection against predators. View the close-up, color photographs of the blue eggs, newly hatched babies, and adult robins. There are interesting pieces of fact and information about the robin. For those children who wish to learn more about this bird, there are some suggested web sites. At the back of the book is a project to make a robin mobile. There are labeled pictures of the supplies along with written directions. However, some children make need a picture of the finished project to support their understanding the directions. This book is one of six in the "Watch Them Grow" series. The other topics are butterflies, chickens, cows, frogs, and trees. Teachers teaching an animal unit may need to supplement the series with books that cover the life cycle of a reptile and a fish. A unit on plants will require additional plants beside a tree.
