"Fascinating, imaginative and nerve-wracking." Kirkus Reviews

"A crackling science thriller in the vein of Crichton that mixes action with science fiction." Kirkus.

"The best combination of science fiction and technothriller this year." Publishers Weekly.

In Australia...a U.S. Air Force computer operator receives a terrifying radio transmission out of Ayers Rock that knocks out the world's communications.

In New Mexico...a boozy college engineering professor is suddenly escorted into a waiting car by two armed military men.

In New York...a tall, slender woman leaves her husband a note on the refrigerator saying that she's leaving -- but can't tell him where she's going.

In Colombia...a Special Forces officer breaks into a drug kinpin's bedroom and puts a bullet into a woman's brain before running to a waiting helicopter.

And in England...a beautiful twenty-three-year-old mathematician prepares for a journey that will change her life forever.

The team
assembles in Australia on a mission that can save the world. But first, they must figure out who is the message coming from? What are they trying to tell mankind? And can it be deciphered in time before Armageddon overtakes the world?

It's about a bomb, it's about a world about to be shattered. It's about the last few days they have to save us all.

Mr Mayer delivers another fantastic story line for readers to consider and enjoy. However, the editing is atrocious. Despite the attraction of the bargain price, no payment is worth the tedium of dredging your your way through virtually EVERY page chocked with grammatical errors, capitalization and formatting errors, ad nauseum. So my question to Barnes and Noble is: did Bob scan it and send it to you with no editorial review by his publisher? And what is YOUR review/vetting/editing process? How could you let this ebook on line (as well as many others) with problems like this? Ebook reading should have a level of quality at least as good as its printed counterpart if you want customers to take ebooks seriously.

I don't believe B&N has ANY review/vetting/editing process since it's a book SELLER not a PUBLISHER. Mayer seems to be the owner (or one of the owners) of the publisher (Who Dares Wins Publishing), so these books may be self-published (sort of) and self-edited (ALWAYS a BAD IDEA). I have mostly enjoyed all of the Mayer/Doherty books I have purchased (the AREA 51 series), but I agree that the poor editing and grammatical/mechanical errors are very distracting -- so distracting that I hesitate to read or purchase any of the other Mayer/Doherty books like this one, the Atlantis series, etc. A good story goes a long way, but if poor editing makes me work harder than I like just to read it, there are plenty of other, professionally edited books out there.

One of the best books I've read this year. The beginning reminded me of The Sphere where the team is pulled together. From there, it's a lot of what appears to be isn't. Not quite science fiction, more science thriller.

Good plot, but the story takes a couple of unnecessarily hokey twists.
