Meet the Author

Kristen Ashley grew up in Indiana, but has lived in Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least), but loopy is good when you want to write. Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).
Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up. And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

This book was good, all of the Rock Chick books are good, but I have to admit the similarities between all the male characters is starting to get on my nerves. They are all pretty interchangeable except for looks. The reaction each of the males have is so identical it's like they are cut from the same mold. Don't get me wrong, the books are all very entertaining; however, I am starting to get the guys confused because they do not have personalities that make them stand out from one another. And I can't help but find it very ridiculous that these women are such good friends knowing that thier man was trying to get it on with one of them (or two of them, in Luke and Ava's case). I can't figure out how I feel about this; I know if my husband had been making out with another woman I considered a friend a few weeks before we started dating there would at least be some awkwardness. It's just kind of icky that these women share details about their sex life with each other in that kind of situation. If I ignore that aspect of the books, though, I find them a very enjoyable read. I prefer KA's other series more -Colorado and the Burg are a little more my style - but the Rock Chick series is still very enjoyable. I am looking forward to Ally's story.

    Love Luke, Can't Stand Ava

I hate to give this book such a bad review, but honestly there are few redeeming qualities. There was such a lead up to Luke's story - he is definitely one of the hottest men in the series and I expected his lady love to be spunkier than most. Unfortunately Ava skips right past spunky and straight into selfish, immature, and (frequently) completely b****y. I know she has had a rocky past with some emotional punches but that does not excuse her behavior. She pulls so many stupid, catty stunts (things that a lead male would be crucified for if the situation were reversed) and then never takes responsibility or apologizes sincerely. Instead, she makes up ridiculous defenses and excuses. Honestly, after the parking lot scene, I actually lost respect for Luke because he didn't ream her ass out and leave her until she tried to work for the relationship for once.

But, the epilogue is one of the sweetest I've read, a fabulous, totally yummy new male lead is introduced and the next love story has a fabulous kickoff. And ironically, Luke and Ava actually become one of my favorite couples in later books. My advice? Skim this one for the highlights and skip right on to Mace/Stella and Hector/Sadie.

I'm really looking forward to Ally and Ren's story, but i hope she tones Ally's drama way the hell down from Ava's.

    Woo hoo

Luke Stark is by far my favorite of the Rock Chick guys. This story was awesome. Ava had a crap life that a lot of women can relate too. Because of this her and Luke's story has a lot of bumps. They have a long history that plays into how they both respond to one another. Again everyone is back and a few more new players come into the picture. This is another must read by Kristen Ashley.

Here's my issue with this series....

I love the supporting characters more then the heroine in each book. I Hate the heroine spends 85% of the book denying a relationship. That gets old fast. I did not really like Luke too much. It was like he couldn't have Roxie so he tried for Jules and settled for Ava. I also felt Luke shpuld have just moved on. The playing hard to get got old fast.

    Another hit read!

Another enjoyable Rock Chick book. Although her earlier books were my favorites still, this one was also very good, it had action, lots of humor, great friendships and interesting plot. I could have smacked Ava upside the head a few times though, lol. Now on to Mace & Stella's story --YeeHaw...

    2nd time around

I decided to reread this series and I still dont like this one as much as the others. Im glad Ava wasnt perfect with her weight problem but I hate the fact that in every book the women had to be a certain type (skinny, big boobs and ass) for the men to love them. It was stated plainly that Ava lost weight just to make Luke look at her. I know they were emotionally scarred but still it would be nice if they weren't physically perfect.

I love Kristen Ashley's books. This is my third series and I am so totally hooked. She brings you into the real world with her characters. The community is of real folks; Blacks, Whites, Hispanic, Native Americans, young, old, straight, gay, good, bad, sane, and a bit insane. I am forever a Kristen Ashley fan

    Luke steals the show

I highly recommend Luke and Ava's story. Like many of the other rock chicks, Ava wants to handle issues on her own, which is frustrating but let's be honest--this only incites Luke which is HOT. So not only do you get to see Luke fired up and sexy as hell, you're introduced to Ren (who you can't help but fall for immediately). I highly recommend this read if Luke is anywhere on your "HOT BUNCH" dream list.

I was a little disappointed in this story; most of it was spent in bed.  I am however really enjoying the series.  The main characters are likable and entertaining.  If you don't care for the f-word, be warned as it is dropped frequently throughout the story but it can be overlooked.  Start with the first in the series and take the crazy rock chick ride, you'll have a satisfying read.

Ava Barlow hates men! She has seen what they have done to her friend Sissy and herself...even her dad! But when her best friend Sissy's husband tries to put the moves on Ava, she is determined to help Sissy get away from him...only problem Dom (sissy's husband) is into some bad stuff. She works up the courage to contact Luke Stark. Ava and Luke go way back, but Ava cut off contact for awhile and Luke is in for a surprise.

I must say Luke Effn' Stark is my favorite! I love this man and am happy he finally got his story! Ava is so sweet and a little insecure and who can blame her with the mother and sisters she has...It's almost like a twist on the old Cinderella story, but with a much happier ending. This, in my opinion, is by far the best yet.

    Love Luke!

First review: My favorite Rock Chic book so far in the series. The hero is amazing.

I am now in the middle of my reread of the series and my head is spinning with all the Rock Chic Hero Hotness. It is a blast to read the
books all at once close together and know the end of the series as well.

I still love Luke and Ava too. I love how this books plays with all the stuff that has come before in the series and how Luke tries to learn
from the other courtships.  I love how some of the fun of interrupted sexy times and more and more kooky friends and shopping piles on.

Luke's courtship is badass and great. Ava is so funny.

I have always had just one regret about this book. Well, two. I wish Luke wasn't a man whore. But more importantly, Ava is formally fat.
Or maybe she was just on the high side of very curvy. We don't really know because her self esteem is whacked.

Anyway, I have always wished that Luke had made it clear that when they had seen each other five years ago if she had called him
back (this is discussed in the first chapter of the book so I don't think its a spoiler) it is likely they would have gotten together no matter
her larger size.   Instead, some where along the line, he says he knew he had always wanted her in his life but hadn't know he would
    want her in his bed.

I also think at some point even though she lost the weight in part for him (in her mind) I think it would burn a little bit that he wants her
like this now that the weight is gone.  I am not saying this is true of Luke. I am just saying this would be one of Ava's crazy notions.
I think Ava's increased self confidence likely made her more hot or at least her increased being herself.

Anyway, loved this book but wish this had gotten explored in the way it deserves.

Mace and Stella are up next. I didn't love this book. So, we shall see what happens in this second read.

I love how Ava stuggled in this book to fight with her past (eating and weight), as well as the removal of her father at such an important age in life. I also love that Luke has been the man for her since she was 8. It just took a while for her to reach out to him and admit she needed him (of course not without a fair bit of knocking heads together and disagreeing). I love this entire series, recommended to everyone.
