This is the best instructional rock climbing book of those currently available. It is full of information both practical and lifesaving, and it is an essential read for both novices and experienced rock climbers. I highly recommend it.
I've read a lot of instructional climbing books and this definitely the best. No wonder it won the National Outdoor Book Award. Covers all the topics you need to know about rock climbing, and it includes exercises for practicing. The photos are crisp and clear too. It has all of the most modern techniques, so I've learned a lot even though I've been climbing for 18 years. Every rock climber should read this book.
It was a good book but like anything else that is an instruction manual it doesn't mean much unless you are actually doing it. I think a video would be much better but the best is an actual class. You can't learn to rock climb from a book but you can learn the terminology etc..
