    My first Serendipity Series book.

My grandmother gave me this book when I was a small girl. Even though afrer reading it I wondered if she thought I was a fatty, I was completely enchanted with the illustrations, and the story of a friend in need and self esteem. When my 4th grade teacher read other stories from the series to our class, I was hooked! These books can be hard to find at times, but when you catch them, they're like gold in your hands.

Happy to be healthy at what cost?

Today's world likes to stress the validity of activity and eating right, but this book hides behind a children's book facade and pretty pictures to impress on the reader that fat is bad, but it doesn't simply explain healthy eating habits. It illustrates other animals laughing at the main character and pratically giving her an eating disorder on top of it. IMO, this book does not stress the true value of friendship to encourage healthy living, it illustrates peer pressure values and how their opinion drives us on instead of having better value in one's self in order to overcome obstacles.

    A very important story

In this day and age, as children eat themselves into oblivion, this book should be mandatory reading prior to a mad run to the fast food grease factory. Fat is fat and is best helped by a balanced diet and exercise. A clever story, cleverly presented.

    Teaching tolerance

This book was read by my children and will now be read by my grandchildren. It teaches that words can hurt and that people should not be judged by appearance. They also learned that self-love is important. These are the lessons that my children learned from this wonderful book.

    A TERRIBLE MESSAGE FOR KIDS

This book is appauling. The title character is a cat who loses weight so the other animals in the forest will like her better. The message is that looks are far more important than what's on the inside. How this book ever went into publication is beyond me!
