    Glad I Borrowed from Library

I'm a senior in high school, and I got this book from my local library, instead of purchasing it. I'm glad I did, as I don't like the book at all. It has some "college admissions secrets" that are really common sense, and the author's tone is rather condescending. In addition, the example students the book follows are not a good sample of the general student population. On a final note, the extreme critique of example recommendation letters written by teachers is just ridiculous. I understand that a student wants his or her application to stand out and be the best it can be, but to go so far as to pressure teachers to write in a certain manner just so the student shows positive attributes and negative attributes is very demanding. While it is necessary for the student to develop lasting teacher-student relationships, certain parts of the college application that reflect that connection are meant to be out of a student's control. To conclude, if you really want to read this book, borrow it, don't buy it. Thanks.

    Highly recommended

This book illustrates many different examples of ways you can improve your application and thus get accepted at the school of your choice. The author has years of college planning experience and is the founder of Ivywise, which is a company that helps student gain admittance to high level schools.
