Overview

“Jennifer Chance’s Rock It is perfect for those of us who like our books the way we like our rockers: smart, sexy, sweet, and a damn good time!”—Lexi Ryan, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of Unbreak Me

Jennifer Chance unleashes her hot new series with the tale of a smoldering rock star and the fangirl who catches his eye—and finds herself living out her wildest dreams.

Lacey Dawes is a total pro at the talent agency where she works, and it doesn’t hurt that IMO Worldwide Media represents Dante Falcone. The rock god has starred in her fantasies since she was sixteen—and remains her secret crush to this day. So when Dante picks her to be the interim manager on his Dream It tour, Lacey can’t believe her luck. Handling Dante is sure to be the most exquisite, spine-tingling, nerve-wracking mix of business and pleasure ever.

Although Dante is grateful for the adoring fans who scream for one more of his full-throttle, soul-searing songs, being surrounded by a cadre of corporate types backstage is wearing thin. Then Lacey shows up. Yeah, she’s organized, smart, quick to get him what he wants before he knows he wants it—but Dante senses there’s something else going on with sweet, sexy Lacey. One kiss tells him what that “something” might be . . . and makes him hungry for more.

This started out a little rocky, got interesting, and ended in sweetness.  I didn’t know how I felt about Dante in the beginning, and Lacey’s fangirl persona was a little obnoxious to me frankly.  She waffles frequently between that persona and her professional mask.  While part of the story, it made me want to smack her.  Plus, she’s much more comfortable with his lifestyle than I would be.  I’d be pretty miffed in some of the situations that she just brushes off.

Beyond that, it gets compelling very quickly and even though it’s pretty predictable, it’s a fun story with characters that are likeable in the end if not at first.  I was taken along for the ride with Lacey and ended up appreciating Dante for all his layers.  There’s room for more books with some of these characters, but there’s nothing that suggests it will be a series or needs to be.  I was very comfortable and happy with the story upon closure.

Rock It is a story about a rock star in his prime that is contrarily tired of the lifestyle.  In his efforts to change that, he learns that his biggest fan is so much more and their journey is full of ups and downs that make for a funny, sexy, and compelling read.

Rock It is the first book in the New Adult Rule Breakers 4-book

Rock It is the first book in the New Adult Rule Breakers 4-book series by Jennifer Chance. Rock It is about what happens when a girl’s dreams about a rock star become reality years later when her PR firm is hired to work with him. If you like bad boys, rock stars, and new adult books, this is the series for you.

Rock It is fun, escapist romance. Lacey has obsessed over rock frontman Dante Falcone since she was sixteen, making scrapbooks, writing him letters, and seeing him in concert. Now it’s six years later and she has a job as a junior talent agent and has to be Dante’s handler on tour. She is career driven and needs to remain professional though her rock fantasy has come to life.

The first book in the Rule Breakers series is fun and flirty, with a relatable hook. It’s easy to connect to Lacey’s teenage obsessions and imagine what would happen if you came face to face with your idol. There are some embarrassing moments for Lacey, though she tries to hold it together as best she can.

Dante is not a typical bad boy rocker, or maybe he’s just ready to settle down a little. He’s achieved all his rock star dreams and aspires to something more. Seeing Lacey’s enthusiasm, fresh ideas and belief in him makes him think he can take his career to the next step. Plus, she seems to get him like no one else does.

There’s a little dramarama from Lacey’s agency to create some angst in the story. But it’s refreshing that there aren’t any third parties in the romance.

Rock It is a fast, enjoyable read, and I liked that workplace and career drama was a focus as well as the romance. And I’m a sucker for music-themed rocker books, what can I say. The next book, Fake It, focuses on Lacey’s friend Anna.

For years Lacey has always been rocker, Dante Falcone's, number #1 fan. He's even the reason her new job is at IMO Worldwide Media, since he's their number one client. Dante meets with IMO Worldwide Media, sees Lacey, and wants her to be his "handler" on his two week concert tour. Lacey isn't sure that's such a good idea. She has her secrets, and since she's obsessed over Dante for years, she's not sure she'll be able to keep her feelings in check for two weeks. Dante won't take no for an answer and that may not be her only obstacle to overcome…but Dante is in charge and Lacey needs to keep this job…
Holy smokes, this is one s-e-x-y romance! I loved it from start to finish, every single word! One of my favorite parts is when Dante told Lacey everyone wants to have sex with her, but he, on the other hand, wants to make love to her. How uber-sexy is that?! Dante is my kind of hero and Ms. Chance knows how to catch and keep a reader's attention with gusto. I will read this book again in the future and I can't stop thinking about it (or talking about it for that matter)! The sex will heat you up and the by-play between the hero and heroine will melt your heart. The supporting characters were needed for the full effect of the story, but if it was just the hero and heroine, I'd have been more than satisfied. I very much hope to read many more books from Ms. Chance! Rock It is a Must Read and by all means, a Keeper!

Loved it.  I thoroughly enjoyed this book to the max. Lacey and Dante were so good together. They were both hiding their feelings for each other but you saw where each of them were coming from. He's a rock star and don't know who he can trust and of course she doesn't want to look like a crazed fan that could possibly unstable.  She got on nerves just a little when she continued to be so undecided with how to handle her feelings for Dante and where to take this relationship.  I loved the way he  threw that twist in there on stage with rockergrrl when professed his love for her and sung a song especially for her. The book was awesome, so much so that I had to pre-order the next book "Fake It". I see now that I will buy the entire series.  I see that Jennifer Chance is not a new author but I'm just discovering her and glad I did.  I will definitely read more of her work

A sweet little story with an air of deceit and regret.

I liked the connection between Dante and Lacey and how their relationship progressed.
It was believable and not far fetched (well ok, maybe a little lol).

I loved the revenge scene and how it all played out. I wish though that it had been more of a kick in the pants lol
The final concert scene was awesome *squeal* lol

The story seemed to move slow then fast then slow then fast. It was nice to see someone's teen fantasy come to life and how his insecurities played out.

The characters were strong and likable and I connected with them right from the start.

I would have liked a little more intrigue and depth in the book but over all it was pretty good.

Steamy, With Little Conflict & Drool-Worthy Hero!

As a big fan of rock star stories, who's read many books with this theme, I was immediately drawn in by the cover and surprising storyline. While I found the hero drool-worthy with unexpected layers the overall execution wasn't what I'd hoped it would be as there wasn't much conflict or character development.
Lacey was an awkward teen with an obsession with singer Dante Falcone. She saw something special in him beyond the fabricated persona. She saw him as a kindred spirit whose music helped her get through her teenage years that were far from glamorous. She saw him as a person who she longed to take care of. As an adult she finally gets the opportunity when he chooses her to go on the road with him for two weeks when her talent agency signs him as a client. For so long she's devoted herself to work and getting ahead. She's lost the joy of living and enjoying music just for the happiness of it. Dante reacquaints her with the joys of music and leaves her questioning what she really wants which leads them to an unexpected future where they both make big changes that ultimately lead to HEA. Lacey's behavior as a teen showed a lonely girl making a connection where she could with someone who wouldn't judge her. As an adult she realizes that her actions were a bit over the top and tries to distance herself from her past. She's still full of insecurities though, letting others walk over her, but being around Dante gives her strength. He helps her embrace her wild and carefree side which leads to her sticking up for herself when her jealous boss tries to sabotage her.
Dante knew success at an early age with his stardom soon rocketing him to the top. His music has evolved to become more commercial, as has every one of his actions. He's become a commodity and everyone wants a pice of him. No one knows the man behind the rock star persona as an ailing brother in his youth has him devoting time and money to sick children as an adult. These moments are one of the few that bring him joy and satisfaction, along with those nights he plays his own brand of music in small and smoky bars far from his typical fans. He's used to the superficiality of groupies but the moment he sees Lacey he knows she's something special. In her eyes he sees her knowledge of the real him and undertakes a sensuous journey to get her to live life to the fullest, to leave her stress and uptight nature behind. When a jealous agent makes Lacey's past known he could easily run away from the obsessed fan but makes an unexpected decision that changes his and her future forever. I enjoyed Dante immensely as he was sexy and did things just to make Lacey blush. He was truly kindhearted and not obsessed with fame. He's loyal to his band and those few in his inner circle and I was left obsessed with him myself.
From its vividly depicted world of rock music with all it's sex, drugs, and alcohol it's easy to get immersed in this story from the first page. Dante's unexpected though as he hasn't become completely corrupted by all the glamour, he's retained his kindhearted side which is refreshing. Lacey is awkward from the start, and though I applaud her empowering transformation, I couldn't overlook her intense teenage attraction which hung over her and Dante's burgeoning relationship and felt a bit icky. The overall storyline felt a bit over-the-top, especially toward the end, but I still felt invested and have great hope for the next book in the series.

I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review, so here it is. Who hasn't fell in love with a rock star? Lacey Dawes has loved Dante Falcone since she was a teen, to the point of making scrapbooks and writing him letters. She has always loved music and now she is working for IMO Worldwide Media, the agency that represents Dante. She is a lowly junior agent and when Dante picks her to be his manager for the two week tour he has scheduled, she is floored and her boss Brenda is not liking it because she wants to seduce Dante herself. She tries to be professional around Dante but he knows she is hiding something. He wants to know what it is. But when he finds out, will he still want to be around her? When things go wrong, will Lacey survive and not lose her heart in the process? This is a first for me by Jennifer Chance and I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to reading more from her.

Rock It is the first book in author Jennifer Chance¿s Rule Break

Rock It is the first book in author Jennifer Chance’s Rule Breakers Series and kicks it off with an enjoyable start.
Lacey Dawes’ career as a PA in a major talent agency has really been amazing thus far.  She’s doing everything she could have dreamed of and when the chance to work with major star Dante Falcone is dropped in her lap she can hardly believe it.  I mean he’s been her crush for as long as she can remember.  She knows everything about him from way back when he was a little known teen idol to now…one of the most sought after stars in music.  Sure, she’s beyond thrilled to be working with him but if she’s being honest, she’s pretty terrified too.  But she knows she will be able to keep things on the most professional of levels and will be able to bury her screaming-fan-girl-ish crush, right?  Turns out that is way easier said than done when she starts working with Dante.  How is it possible he could be even more amazing in person?  Oh, she was in so much trouble.
Dante Falcone is thankful every day for his fame and success.  He has everything he’s dreamed of and is always working at getting to the next level in his career.  But there’s always been something missing.  He can’t quite figure out was it is, exactly, until he meets Lacey.  There is something about her that draws him in.  It’s almost like he’s met her before.  But surely that can’t be true.  He would remember someone as beautiful and refreshing as she is.  Still, he can’t get her out of his mind.  What better way to keep her around than to insist that she’s the one he wants to head up his latest tour and projects with his new talent agency?  Nothing has ever been out of reach when he sets his sights on it, and Lacey is no exception.
I’m always a sucker for a Rock God meets fresh-faced girl story and Rock It totally delivered.  Dante is the ultimate rocker with a soft side and big heart and the desire to find love and Lacey totally fits that bill.  One of the things I liked best about Lacey was her very real reactions when she’s around Dante.  Her plan of being professional and composed completely fly out the window and more often than not she ends up fumbling over her words and actions because, let’s face it, wouldn’t you if you had to work with your ultimate celeb crush?  I know I would!  It’s those reactions that made her a very endearing character and one I really enjoyed reading.  And the chemistry between Dante and Lacey is totally scrumptious!
I am looking forward to more in this series and to see where Jennifer takes us!

Lacey Dawes has it all, or so she thinks. Her dream job, in her dream city, with everything going right, Lacey is on top of the world. Her talent agency has just signed with Dante Falcone, one of the hottest rock stars on the planet and coincidentally, her crush since she was a young teen.
Dante has been a rock idol for so long, its almost as if he’s forgotten how to be a normal guy. When he meets Lacey, he suddenly sees himself wanting to change and be different for her. He wants to be a better person for her and uses her crush for him as a catalyst for a relationship.
I found this book on Netgalley and was incredibly excited just by the cover alone. Isn’t it gorgeous? Loving rock star heroes, I was sure I would love this book...unfortunately, that’s pretty far from the truth. Pretty cover does not equal pretty book.
I found both Dante and Lacey to be poor characters. Dante is this mythical thing in Lacey’s mind, she’s followed him for years. Suddenly when faced with touring with him, she jumps at the chance. That part didn’t bother me, but the immediate jumping into bed with him without a how do you do drove me insane.
Dante felt empty. We are supposed to believe he’s been this star for these many years, but he just seemed juvenile and devoid of character. Again, he’s super attracted to Lacey immediately and doesn’t find the fact she was a rabid fan before creepy at all. Not even enough to be a little cautious, they are just friendly in the biblical sense in the beginning.
The book had promise and even the story itself isn’t that bad. I enjoy the idea of fan and star falling in love, but with this one it is just poorly executed. Not realistic in the least and the characters fell flat. Poorly executed and flat, this may be one to skip.

    4.5 Fangirling stars

Let me just say that I really like Dante, the rock god in this story, and I found Lacey to be an enjoyable heroine. Imagine being put face to face with your teenage crush/obsession. Better yet, imagine getting to spend 2 weeks up close and personal with said person. Well that is what happens to Lacey. All her life she has been the ultimate fan and in love with Dante Falcone. Her other love has been music and now that she is grown she has the best of both worlds with her job at IMO as they are the agency who has just been signed on to represent Dante.

While attempting to work through the details of contracts, sparks fly and Dante takes an interest in Lacey. She finds herself in a difficult choice of following her heart or using her head and not compromising her position with IMO. I'm guessing you can guess which route she takes.

I have to admit some of Lacey and Dante's interactions are rather steamy, the scene in the supply closet was unforgettable. Chance's writing gets all the credit for developing wonderful chemistry with this couple. She also does a fabulous job creating the side characters. Lacey's best friend Anna was great and her boss Brenda was someone I loathed.

Now honestly, the believability of the story is pretty small but who cares, I enjoyed the story the entire time I read it. It helped me think back on the days of youth when loving that movie or music star was so real, and better it helped draw out the fantasy of what if. What if you ever had the chance to meet them, and better yet, what if they ended up loving you as much as you loved them. So yes, total fantasy, but totally an enjoyable read.

Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

ROCK IT by Jennifer Chance was a really fun book to read! I'm always so happy when I pick up a book from an author I've never read before and absolutely love it! Ms. Chance's writing was well-paced, humorous, had a great storyline, steamy, steamy well-written chemistry between the Dante and Lacey, and sigh worthy declarations of love at the end. This romance addict enjoyed every. single. page.

I loved Lacey, her spunky lady lead, all her self-talk, her go-for-it attitude, and her complete fangirl obsession with her favorite rock star, Dante Falcone. She was all about her professional appearance and demeanor on the outside, but was also a fiery and passionate woman who didn't allow anyone to get the best of her or keep her from getting what she wanted. She wasn't afraid to take a risk to accomplish her goals and took humiliation coming up fighting! She had a great group of friends that had her back when things got a little crazy and whose personalities and dialogues added to the fun. I'm excited to know this is the first in a set of stories about these four friends.

And then there is Dante, the sex-on-a-stick rock star who has owned Lacey's fangirl heart since she was in junior high. Of course he's gorgeous, talented - and not just on the stage, and the stuff of dreams for millions of women everywhere. He's only 24, but he's been in the limelight for ten years, is just a bit jaded and a tired of the whole rock-n-roll scene of having a different girl on his arm every night. He's still has dreams he hasn't fulfilled and knows if he doesn't get off the tour bus and take control of his music again, he may never get his life back. So he hires the Media agency where Lacey works to change-up his marketing plan even when he hates being "handled". Being the rock god that he is he refuses their account rep, Brenda the Barracuda (Lacey's boss) and insists on Lacey, who is basically Brenda's assistant be his handler, mostly because he's sure she won't get in his way. But he doesn't count on the way she not only gets her way, but gets under his skin, and in his head because she gets him. The real him in a way no one else ever has and this is something he thought he'd never find. *sigh*

Aside from the crazy chemistry and romance going on with Dante and Lacey there is a two and a half week tour to be managed. This entails YouTube video webisodes to market the tour, an assortment of roadies and groupies, band members and managers, and jealous bosses to deal with. Rock It was just a great ride I'm so glad I decided to take. I rate this book with five stars!

This book was great!  I loved the characters, they were believable and exciting.  The writing was very good.  I was hooked from
beginning to end and even in the middle.  We could feel the struggle to grow up and become who they were meant to be.  The setting
was exciting and vibrant and made me want more.  The only thing that bothered me and obviously it didn't bother me that much or I
wouldn't have rated it so high was that at the end I wanted more, I wasn't ready for it to end, even though it had a HEA there was still just
so much, so maybe it's a good lead in to another book?  I can't wait to see!

    SEXY ROCK-STAR-ROMANCE

Lacey is 22 years old. She's been in love/lust with pop/rock-star Dante Falcone forever!
But he doesn't know that of course.
But now her chance is finally here. She's working for the agency that represents Dante from now on and kind of accidentally she ends up being his 'manager' for the next two weeks ¿

Dante immediately sees something in Lacey when they meet for the first time. He can feel that she sees the real him. Not the person all his fans see.

And she does. She's had 8 years of collecting everything about him. Every last scrap of information.
Which is a tiny bit stalkerish ¿

Then there's the intense attraction they both feel. OK, Lacey always knew that he was SEXY HOT - but now that he's in the same room with her it's - WHOA !!
    Instant mental Orgasms ¿¿¿

    Mid-life-crisis at age 24??? ¿

    Enter Lacey ¿

She brings all kinds of complications into his life.

But Dante wants to see where this thing with Lacey could go.

And Lacey has to decide if this could be the real thing - or if it's just this silly left-over teenie-infatuation with a rock star....

And then there's her beloved job on the line too....
    what will she do?
    What will happen???¿¿¿

I'M NOT TELLING YOU THAT OF COURSE... ¿

    I REALLY LOVED THE BOOK!!!

After finishing my review I read a few reviews- and I had to add this - I don't know why people are so critical about this book - yes there were some things that were a bit weird - but it was a great story!!!! o.O

BUT ... maybe it's just me...
Give a Navy SEAL or a Rock Star - and I'm TOTALLY FANGIRLING ¿¿¿

But I really don't think this book was bad??!?!
    I really loved it.
I loved Dante - what's not to love about a sexy, sweet, RockStar without any of the horrible RockStar issues ¿

The story was the kind of fairy tale story every fan-girl dreams about!!
You're a fan of this guy and you work your way up to finally get close to him and then he falls in love with you??? Even though, or maybe because you're his biggest fan. You understand him - the real him!
Ugh - I sooo want to be Lacey!!! ¿

I really loved the sexiness of the book.
We don't have SEX all the time - totally unlike a Rockstar ¿
But they're really trying to start slow - but still very sexy!!!
    I would've loved a bit more SEX ;)))

The only things that bothered me a bit...
first - this 'thing' they do towards the 70% mark of the book - I totally didn't understand what they were doing??? I got it then finally AFTER the fact - but while they were explaining it - to me - the reader - I didn't understand where they were going with it :( Might have been a bit too complicated for me...

Then the thing that I wish was different...
I wish the book had another 100 pages!
It feels like the editor made Jennnifer take out sooo many details.
This could have been an epic Rock-Star Erotic Romance - but there are just too many things missing.
That's how it felt to me at least.
I wanted to know soooo much more about Dante & Lacey's life - their history - their future - their feelings.
It's kind of like this insta-love thing that happens here....it's all a bit quick ¿

But that doesn't change the fact that I loved this book!!!!

If you like sexy New Adult romances with a HOT Rock-Star ----->>>
GO AND BUY THE BOOK ¿

I'm really looking forward to reading the other books in the series - the stories about Lacey's roomates!
Anna's story will be first ¿
