All Music Guide - Heather Phares
Rocket Ship Beach introduced Dan Zanes' special brand of children's music, which mixes well-known songs for kids, standards, and traditional country and folk songs with a hand-crafted sound and plenty of affection for both the music and its intended audience. From the British folk-tinged "All My Friends Live in the Woods" -- which features Simon Kirke -- to the vaudevillian "Sidewalks of New York" to the reggae-inspired "On the Sunnyside of the Street," Rocket Ship Beach is as diverse as it is charming; the storybook-like packaging and Donald Saaf's whimsical illustrations add to its heartfelt, homespun look and sound. Zanes' other albums -- Night Time! and Family Dance -- are equally delightful, and all of them emphasize how important it is to enjoy music together as a family.

    Great for all ages!

We often just put this CD on (along with other Dan Zanes CD's) and get silly and dance. A great way to spend some quality time with your little ones...and it won't drive you crazy.

    greatfor parents too!!

THis is a great kids CD that parents wont mind listening to over and over (and over) again! Our daughter (21 months) loves it - and now it is on our list to give to all of our friends with kids for christmas.

kid's music that you can stand to listen to

That's high praise. I like the song choices, the whimsical liner notes, the children's backing vocals-- honesly almost everything about this. Nothing is too precious or sanitized-- definitely worth a listen and a great gift to a new parent who's squeamish about standard lullabies.
