All Music Guide - James Christopher Monger
Between Laurie Berkner, ex-Del Fuego Dan Zanes, and the veritable institution that is They Might Be Giants, New York City has become a hub for progressive, Barney-free original children's pop. The Laurie Berkner Band, which also boasts the talents of Susie Lampert and Adam Bernstein, has made a career out of not insulting kids or their parents with contrived baby talk and boring nursery rhymes. Berkner's gift for melody and genuine enthusiasm for both children and songwriting shine through on Rocketship Run, a 24-track Easter basket of quirky folk-pop songs with titles like "Mouse in My Toolbox," "Candy Cane Jane," and "Pigbasket" woven around an ongoing ...

These are textbook singalongs to be sure, but the production is top-notch, as are the performances, resulting in that rare "kids" collection that can be safely consumed by all ages.

    good listening music

I bought this for a student of mine. He just thinks this is great. He sings along with the different songs. I would definitly recommend this cd.

    I Also Recommend:

Won't make you want to hide the disc.

My sons (20 mos, 3yrs) love, love, love the music and thankfully so do I. The lyrics are great and the music is even better. When I pop this in, either at home or on the road I am guaranteed 50+ minutes of happiness for everyone.

Fun album for the whole family

I heard about this album from friends with young children. Both my four year old son and 14 month old daughter love listening to this CD and dancing around. For parents, the tunes are much more enjoyable than many of the usual kids' songs.

    Great music for my toddler!

We were introduced to Laurie Berkner on Jack's Big Music Show. We bought our 2 year old this CD for Christmas and keep it in the car. She asks for this cd every time she gets in the car and she always sings along. The music is catchy and unique enough to enjoy listening to over and over. I highly recommend this cd.

    Really special!

I was so ready for a kids album like this--I find myself listening to it long after my toddlers have left the room! Very folksy, chill, clever music. Love it!
