    A handy beginner rockhound's reference

I liked 'The Rockhound's Handbook'. Mr. Mitchell offers us the basics for the beginning rockhound in an easy-to-read manner. He also gives us techniques and resources to advance the hobbyist's interests from collecting rocks & minerals to prepartions and displaying of one's collection to lapidary and jewelry work. A must have for mineral enthusiasts!

    I Also Recommend:

Great Resource for Beginners or Experienced Rockhounds

I have been a rockhound all of my life and can spend hours looking for gems, rocks, and minerals. I have several books on rockhounding and identification guides but needed a book that gave a general overview of rockhounding and rock polishing.

My hobby has grown from looking for "pretty" rocks to wanting to learn how to find specific gems, rocks, and minerals. The subject of Geology is complex to say the least. I have found learning to identify gems, rocks, and minerals is not something you can learn in a couple of hours.

The "Rockhounds Handbooks" is easy to read, excellent color photos, and perfect to bring on all rockhounding adventures.
