Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
"As a father of seven and grandfather of six, I've read my share of fluffy bunny books but here's a book I can really get behind. Rockin' Babies rocks!" --Quincy Jones

Kirkus Reviews

Apparently, even babes need to fight for their right to rock.

Toddlers bop to their own beat, complete with skull-and-crossbone onesies and hand signs. Simple sentences set up a repetitive framework for each illustrative punch line as ethnically balancedtots play, eat and travel until eventual slumber. The text tries to maintain a hip tone, while rich, graphically patterned spreads extend expected behaviors. "Rocker babies trash their rooms" shows clothes displaced across the floor; the young culprit gleefully dangles stuffed animals by their paws. There's deadpan humor for those caregivers all too familiar with little ones' inevitable messes, predestined, it seems, for the most inopportune times. (An explosive mess of pea-green spew splatters the father's freshly pressed suit.) A contemporary slant prevents enduring appeal. The latest smart phones click away as a glum tyke endures the fuss while "rockin' babies are hounded by the paparazzi." Childhood portraits depict a telling shrine above the wall (look for the ornate frame featuring the tot's blood-curdling scream.)

It's the adult managers of those little musicians who will find humorous details here, but as a format geared totoddling rockers, developmental notes fall flat. (Board book. 1-3)

Simply the coolest board book for kids I've seen, and I've seen plenty! I love the way the illustrations pop, and the looks on the little rock stars' faces as they read along...priceless! It's a great gift, too. Hey, this would be a great TV show idea...!

I love this book! My new granddaughter received Rockin' Babies as a gift. What a great little treasure this book is for my "little treasure's" library.

I was at Barnes and Noble with my 3 year grand daughter and happened upon the book signing and reading of this amazing book. It was such a joy to watch her face as the authors read "Rockin' Babies," as she was spellbound and animated at the same time. We bought a couple of books and proudly took them up to be signed by the authors. Since then she has not stopped talking about the book and the experience, so I decided to have a tea party for her at my house and give the books as party favors. She wanted to make it a "reading and sign books" for her friends...it was a huge success. This book is such a gem with a wonderful message.....every baby is a rock star, making them feel as special as they really are. The illustrations are magical. With the successful collaboration of the mother and daughter authors adding an additional special element to "Rockin' Babies," it is now my "must give baby book."

My granddaughter and great neice, both future Lady Gaga's, looooved this book. And I loved reading to to them - over and over and over again. I laughed out loud every time. The text is so clever, the illustrations so engaging - it should be a Pixar movie, It's my favorite new baby gift!

A new take on board books. Illustrations colorful and cute. My son (2 1/2) very attracted to them while I fell over laughing at the concept of comparing babies to rock stars. Very clever. Haven't ever enjoyed a board book as much I did this one.

Adorable illustrations and so funny! My 3 year old grandtwins loved it and so did I. They had favorite things and favorite babies on each page. You will enjoy this book as much as your kids.

This book is adorable!! It's a must have for parents and kids. The idea now seems so obvious but these authors thought of it. Our kids are the rock stars of our lives for sure. We do everything pictured in this book and so do our kids (all 4 of them). Great gift but be sure to buy one for youself

Read about this book on Hollybaby Book Club and it sounded like fun. When I mentioned it to a friend she said she already had it and when our kids had a playdate this morning I checked it out. Hollybaby was right. Rockin' Babies is quirky and funny and my 2 year old was mesmerized by the illustrated babies. I was also happy to find it on B and N at a great price so it's on it's way to me now. I know it will be read for a long time to come.

Received this book as a birthday gift for my 3 year old and I just bought a few more to keep on hand for that purpose. My daughter loved the colorful pictures and she now calls me "Roadie Mama" which takes some explaining in public. Really original and fun. Your child will learn some intersting new vocabulary:)
