But when she gets mashed in the moshpit, loses her precious moon rock, and bodysurfs backstage, she ends up with more than a mild concussion to deal with. By the next morning, the strung-out rock star is coming down in her garage. Jody -- oops -- kind of kidnapped him. By accident. And now he doesn't want to leave.

It's a rock-star abduction worthy of an MTV reality series . . . but who got punk'd?!

School Library Journal
Gr 8 Up—Sixteen-year-old Jody's obsession with Jackson Gatlin, the lead singer of the band The Regulators, only amps up following the death of her beloved, free-spirited grandfather. In the chaos following a Regulators concert, Jody accidentally kidnaps Jackson and keeps him in the garage behind her house. She quickly learns that her idol isn't the person she believed him to be. With the help of her friend Mac, she deals with Jackson's unpredictable behavior and mood swings and helps him to detox while the rest of the world believes that he has died. Just as Jackson acclimates to Jody and Mac and begins to plan for a new life out of the spotlight, a nosy local reporter begins to suspect that the famous singer is hiding nearby. Jody is able to make arrangements to sneak Jackson out of the country just in time. On a mission to make sense of her grandfather's parting words, "Don't dream it, be it," she struggles to find herself, be understood, and understand her relationships with those closest to her. Teens will appreciate Jody's journey of self-discovery despite it being set to the unlikely premise of successfully carrying out a celebrity kidnapping.—Nicole Knott, Watertown High School, CT
From the Publisher

"Made me laugh, cry, and seriously reconsider my taste in rock stars." -- Lucy Christopher, author of the Printz Honor Book STOLEN

"Perfect for the inner fangirl in us all. A hilarious look at what happens when fantasy and reality collide. Fast-paced, squirm-inducing, heartbreaking, life-affirming: It will make your think twice about your celebrity crushes. But not stop them. THAT would be crazy talk." -- Elizabeth Eulberg, author of TAKE A BOW

"Unexpected, in the best possible way. Romantic, surprising, a wild ride from beginning to end." -- Stacy Kramer, co-author of FROM WHAT I REMEMBER

"If Bridget Jones had a little sister, it would be Jody. Her narrative is sharp and pithy, yet perfectly captures how complicated it is to figure out what it means to love...and to learn how to let go. This reviewer cannot remember the last time she so desperately wanted everything to work out for a set of characters. ROCKOHOLIC is fun, funny, and would make a great book club read." -- VOYA

"This engaging, surprisingly serious caper is rock-solid." -- KIRKUS REVIEWS

"A raucous story of romance, rock music, and accidental kidnapping...shines a light on the pressures of fame and the process of seeing oneself from a new angle." -- PUBLISHERS WEEKLY

"Funny and accurate." -- THE TIMES OF LONDON

"Sharp, vivid, daft." -- THE TELEGRAPH UK

"Intensely funny. Laugh-aloud slapstick with a dash of romance, it's terrific." -- THE BOOKSELLER UK

Rockoholic is an insane fun, rock-n-roll ride! C. J. Skuse has written a hilarious yet heart-touching novel with this lovesick, English girl. Jody is a high-strung girl who wants to be rescued from her life by her rock star love, Jackson, the lead singer of the rock band The Regulators. And for Jody, love addiction means sometimes your fantasies can come true.

Jody's grandfather has just passed away. He was the only one in her family who understood who she was and shared the same outlook on life as she did. When her mother forbids her to go to the love of life rock star Jackson’s concert, her best friend Mac gives her his ticket. Mac’s going to wish he never did that when Jody ends up kidnapping the rock star Jackson.
In Jody's case the best way to cure a rock star love addiction is to get to have the real person instead of the fantasy of the stage. Jody learns that she’s not so in love with the real Jackson, but these two will end up helping each other find their true self. And Jody will find out what real love means and who really loves her.

Rockoholic is loads of laughs, but it carries a clear coming of age lesson for Jody's fantasy love. Jody’s love addiction will be the best thing that ever happens to rock star Jackson. I recommend Rockololic as a fun, but serious read in rescuing a lovesick, troubled teen and rock star who’s definitely in need of saving.

    Amazingly Funny!

Reading the first few pages I was hooked. Then going on in the book, I realized just how funny this book really was. Makes me smile when I don't want to and makes me laugh when all I want to do is cry. All this book does is make my day!
