Overview

Workin' up a hot, sticky sweat is pure pleasure with a hard-ridin' cowboy....

Widowed, struggling stock contractor Gemma Jansen swallows her pride and tracks down former bull rider Cash Big Crow to offer him a job managing her ranch. Cash agrees on one condition: it won't be a strictly working relationship. She's the boss during the day, but once she's corralled in the bedroom, Cash calls the shots.

Meanwhile, Carter McKay is spending his summer at the Bar 9 Ranch preparing for an art show. But he's definitely not prepared for the immediate visceral connection he feels to Cash's sexy and sassy daughter Macie Honeycutt. Lust flares between them and Macie proves she's up for any dirty fun and games that sweet and wild Carter dreams up.

Gemma struggles with her feelings for Cash–except this time, Cash has grabbed the bull by the horns. He has to convince Gemma he's playing for keeps.

The more time Macie spends with Carter the harder she falls for him. But will the brooding artist understand that trust is just as important as love?

It's going to be a long, hot summer in Wyoming.

Warning: this book contains explicit sex nine ways 'til Sunday, inventive rope play, graphic language, ménage a trois, and all sorts of fun and kinky cowboy stuff.

I enjoyed this book because it was laced with HOT SEX and was actually able to keep a story line at the same time. So not only could I not wait to read the sex scene it also kept my interest on other levels. And to those who don't like the sex scenes........."Why are you reading these kind of books then???"

This isn't my favorite one out of the series, but it is still worth reading. James is able to nicely weave the two stories of Gemma & Cash, and Carter & Macie. Its has more romance that that other books in the series, but still tons of steamy sex scenes to get your blood pumping.

Although this book has two stories in one, which i am usually not a big fan of it is a must read for the series. Most of the story was about Macie and Carter (a McKay). When Macie's father sort of cancels their vacation plans to work for women that he has been eyein' for some time Macie runs into Carter a ranch hand on Gemma's ranch. Macie's father hooks up with Gemma while Macie hooks up with Carter (an artist) but is not very skilled in relationships. Macie's father is not the tiniest bit please that his little girl has hooked up with one of the infamous McKay boys known for the sexual prowess. Needless to say the story has quite a bit of turbulence and is a fantastic read.

I really liked this book almost as much as the first one. This book has two hot romances in one. Gemma and Cash Big Crow as well as Carter McKay and Macie, Cash's daughter.

Well what can I say? Another great story by Lorelei where hot men express their he-man caveman natures and leaves us hot and wanting more. This story is Gemma's (Channing's BFF) and Cash Big Crow a cowboy that just wanted someplace to belong and settle down. For me it was more about Macie (Cash's daughter) and Carter McKay. Where Carter being the quietest of the McKay men is the most dominating of them. The saying "Watch out for the quiet ones" is really express here. The story has conflict between Cash and Carter. Between Carter and Macie and hot scenes where the characters let out some of their frustration. This is a great story where it let's us know that no meter if we are young or old we can still find love where we least expect it.

Lorelei James has added a great story to this series. She brings two couples to the RR family in this novel, and she weaves their stories together in an amazing way. Carter & Macie, Cash and Gemma are all great characters on their own, but they way they interact throughout the books makes me love them all the more. All of these characters grow so much during this book. Carter McKay is one hot artist! You won't want to miss out on this one!

It wasn't my favorite, but glad I read it. Would have liked the story to be more about Gemma and Cash. Worth reading because of the inspite it gives to the rest of the series .

Liked it as part of the series but not as a stand alone book. I have a little different perspective because I read this as the last book in the series (so far). The stories get stronger as the series goes along and there is A LOT less porn sex in the later books. This book is okay and a good time filler till the next book. I recommend the series and this as part of it.

I love this series already. The way she writes it keeps you reading and lets you really get to know the characters, the way they act and feel feels real. And although the sex is very HOT the story is better. You will fall in love with all the McKay family and just keep reading. It also has just enough kink in it that the sex is new and exciting every time. You will love this book and be excited to read the next!! Enjoy, I did!!

Rode Hard, Put Up Wet is book two in the Rough Riders series by Lorelei James. In this book you will get not one but two couples’ stories, Cash Big Crow and the woman he has dreamed of for years, Gemma Jansen, and Cash’s daughter Macie and Carter McKay. I didn’t completely fall in love with this book as much as I did the first one but it was still a sexy, steamy good book that I couldn’t put down. Gemma Jansen is finally ready to move on from the death of her husband. She needs help badly on her ranch, the Bar 9. She and Cash have shared a kiss or two but she hasn’t seen him in a full year. Is he still interested or did he get tired of waiting for her? So she seeks him out and offers him the position of ranch foreman. Cash doesn’t hesitate to accept Gemma’s offer as long as she agrees to one stipulation, she is the boss during the day, but he will sleep in her bed at night, and he is the boss then. It’s all or nothing for Cash. He won’t give up this chance to finally have Gemma right where he wants her, in his bed. There is one small problem, though. Cash has a twenty-two year old daughter no one knows about, Macie. Macie’s mother has died and Cash is trying to make up for years of being a bad father. He and Macie were supposed to spend the summer together traveling. So Macie would have to be part of the package, coming along to stay on Gemma’s ranch. Carter McKay is the quiet one of the wild McKay brothers. He is the brother that didn’t want to make his living ranching, but instead as an artist. He’s living on Gemma’s ranch, helping her with chores and working on his art. For the last couple of months he has been dreaming of a woman, a woman he has never seen before in real life. He has tried time and time again to capture the image on canvas but it escapes him. The first time he sets eyes on Macie he can’t believe it. She is the woman of his dreams, the exact woman that has been haunting him. Cash knows the McKay family well and knows how the McKay brothers are. He is not happy at all with Carter’s interest in Macie. But they are both adults and if he wants his daughter to stick around so they can work on their relationship, he has to keep his opinions to himself about Carter. Both Cash and Carter have a dark side, both sexually and emotionally. This book does not disappoint with plenty of steamy, sexy times. Both men often frustrated me with their emotional distance. And Carter…at times he made some not so smart decisions. He is probably typical for an artist. He would get wrapped up in his projects and ignore Macie. And towards the end he really made me mad. But of course, all works out in the end with the help of the strong women they have chosen. We also get a little glimpse of Channing and Colby from the first book which I enjoyed. And a little visit from Trevor. I can’t wait to get more of his story. I am loving this series. It most definitely keeps the pages steaming and keeps my addiction to sexy cowboys fulfilled. I look forward to the next book, which will be AJ and Cord’s story.

What originally drew me to this story was the heroine’s age: Gemma Jansen is 48. I have not read too many romances where the heroine is an older woman and I very much enjoy them. Monica Burns has done it twice, brilliantly, in Pleasure Me and Love’s Revenge. But this novel is actually two love stories in one. I was hoping the focus would be solely on the older couple (Cash and Gemma) but there is also Cash’s twenty-two year-old daughter, Macie, and Carter McKay, younger brother of Colby from Long Hard Ride. As in that first book, there is plenty of very hot and raunchy, pushing-the-envelope sex. And Lorelei James writes it very, very, well. It’s well choreographed, almost like a dance, and not awkward like you think it might be. But the characters and setting are a little too crass and rough for my taste. These characters have whiskey bottles in their car, embark on four day benders, and swear like sailors–well, in this case, cowboys–concepts that are foreign to me. But at its heart, this novel also has some strong themes of love and family and vulnerable and flawed characters whose feelings readers can empathize with. Macie and Cash Big Crow had plans to spend the summer together, but those plans are revised when Gemma offers Cash a job as foreman at her ranch. He accepts on one condition: that she finally acknowledge and act upon their mutual attraction. Macie comes along to be with her father. Gemma Jansen and Cash Big Crow are 48 and 37 respectively. She is a widow who enjoyed a long and happy marriage but she’s also lonely and longs to feel desire (and desired) once again. Cash has never known love though he became a father when he was just sixteen. He adores Gemma but he’s also afraid to let her know it because of his stupid cowboy pride. Carter McKay is an artist with a graduate degree in fine art while Macie has lived a vagabond life. I’m not quite sure what these two have in common besides hot sex, however, and I don’t know if their relationship can last. I find Carter a little selfish. He gets so wrapped up in his art that he doesn’t call Macie for a week sometimes, despite professing to be so into her. Luckily, Macie is strong and self-assured and lives her own life. She also makes it clear she is not anybody’s doormat. Carter is the youngest McKay, the most educated, and the quietest in his big boisterous family of wild boys. But he loves hard sex himself, he’s just more discriminating in his tastes. In this, he is a lot like Macie; both feel out of place in the world. He within his large family, and she on the edges of her father’s love and attention. Macie envies Carter his loving family, something alien to her. Secretly, she longs to put down some roots but has no idea how to do it or if she even can. Macie loves to cook and I like the friendship she made up with the older, wiser, Velma, the owner of the diner where Macie immediately snags a job as a cook and waitress. Cash is a strong man with strong sexual appetites. He wants it all with Gemma and wants to give her everything, even a threesome with Trevor, Colby McKay’s bisexual friend from Long Hard Ride. Together, Trevor and Cash give Gemma the time of her life. I like that James is not afraid to present an older woman who is sexy as hell. For the rest of this review: http://bit.ly/1HSC7DD

Rough Riders are a great series of books by Lorelei James. We get to see Cash help Gemma, both from Long Hard Ride, on her ranch for more than money. We met Carter, one of the McKay/West cousins. He sees Macie, Cash’s daughter, the woman from his dreams. Will both couples find their comfort and place to call Home. Fun to find out what happens. Thanks Lorelei & Good Writing

Gemma Jansen swallows her pride and tracks down circuit rider Cash Big Crow to offer him a job managing her ranch. Cash agrees on one condition: theirs won't be strictly a working relationship." Lorelei James I loved Cash he is one hot alpha male who likes to be in control in the bedroom and Gemma is more then happy to let him. It's taken Gemma two years to get the nerve up to go after Cash and now she wants it all. Cash was to spend the summer with his daughter Macie the guilt of letting her down again has him bringing her to the ranch with him. Where Carter McKay is helping Gemma out for the summer while he's getting ready for his art show. Sparks fly between Carter and Macie when he realizes Macie is his illusive muse he's been seeing for months.  I love a book that has two romances going on at the same time. Both different and both hotter the h$ll.

The story was better this time but I am getting really tired of the women being so weak. Women can do more than just be bossed around sexually. Put a woman in charge for a change!
