Children's LiteratureThis is a great book about rodents with much information, beautiful pictures, and nice coverage across the rodent world. It has bold printed words that may be difficult or not regular vocabulary for most children. Everything is covered from "Who Is Your Rodent," "Pet Profiles," "You and Your Rodent," "Animal Almanac," and "Where to Learn More." One could learn a great deal about rodents including gerbils, hamsters, guinea pigs, chinchillas, and mice. Additional sections include "Fun Facts," "Important Dates," "Words to Know," and an index. The problem is that the format of the book lends itself to younger children and so it might be overlooked by the upper elementary grades. A good library media specialist or teacher could solved this problem. This book is part of the "Pet's Point of View" series. 2005, Compass Point Library, Ages 8 to 12.
