In 1813, Lady Jane Pennington has met every eligible bachelor in London in the three months that she has stayed with her uncle, aunt and five Maywell Mob cousins. Jane notices a light in a room that her uncle closed off. To get a closer look she climbs a tree, but gets stuck on a branch just as gambler Ethan Damont leaves. He rescues her. She later learns that her hero is a filler ¿place card¿, but not suited for any of her cousins......................... Ethan is tired of the Liar¿s Club following him around so he confronts Lord Dalton Etheridge who warns him either he spies for the crown or else. The Liar¿s want him to play cards with Maywell a traitor. Ethan realizes that Maywell endangers Jane and her cousins with his traitorous activity so he reluctantly agrees. Maywell knows Ethan desires his niece so he asks him to escort Jane to a party because he plans to recruit the lad to spy on the Liar¿s Club even as he knows Etheride is also using Ethan to spy on him. As Ethan and Jane fall in love, he chooses his own path to keep her safe, not knowing that she has a more intricate role in her uncle¿s activities................................ The latest Liar¿s Club novels (see THE SPY and THE PRETENDER) is filled with suspense and romance headed by a likable lead couple in which Jane is the courageous patriot while Ethan has doubts. The story line is action-packed as the audience anticipates a showdown between the traitor and the doubter thorough that climax seems weak. He also makes her come in a carriage without touching her by using seductive words; she is too strong for that to occur. Still this is a strong Regency romantic suspense thriller that Celeste Bradley¿s readers will enjoy........................ Harriet Klausner

If you haven't read the other liar's club books-do read them before this one. You get to revisit all the characters from previous liar's stories and need the leadin to this book. Bradley calls ethan a rogue but needed to add:rake-roue'-rounder-and all around rotten rotter. Of course he comes to his senses but not until long after he meets lady jane-hanging upside down from a tree limb-he doesn't see her face but he loves her drawers. Lady jane is a sweet uncomplicated female-loyal to her mother to a fault-(snicker).Bradley takes readers of romance and lady jane to places where no man or woman has ever gone before in a historical romance. Whet your appetite for this story? good-because you will never put it down until finished. On a sensual scale of 1-10 it gets a 9.5.Rarely will i give a book a 5 but this one desrves every one.

I have only read a few of Ms. Bradley's novels, however, I like each book I read more then the last. The characters in this book are wonderful and continously witty. The dialogue is fun to read with many laugh out loud moments. Loved it.

I loved this book!! Ethan was funny and original, together they sparkled. The dialog between the two characters was laugh out loud funny and at times most touching. Highly reccommended.

After reading her last Liar's Club offering, I was afraid that Ms. Bradley was heading south, but The Rogue has more than redeemed things. I'll not summarize things because Ms. Klausner has done so already, however, I will add my endorsement of this book. This is a fanatastic way to spend a day. The Rogue is full of intrigue, adventure, and, of course, romance. Don't miss this Liar's Club title!
