Each chapter also includes objectives, key terms and concepts, critical thinking questions, case studies, classroom activities, and competency boxes, which link examples of the knowledge, skills, and attitudes (KSA) needed by nurses and nursing students to the core competencies. A companion website offers many instructor and student resources.

Its strength lies in the incorporation of the Nurse of the Future: Nursing Core Competencies and other standards and recommendations throughout. All of the faculty and students resources only enhance the utility of the book. It provides many avenues for teaching and learning that should accommodate any learning style.
