Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
PreS-Gr 2-Merle Peek's Roll Over! A Counting Song (HM, 1981) will have little ones counting backwards in no time. A young boy is tucked in bed, but his nine animal companions are making sleep difficult. Beginning readers will enjoy a twist on the theme of falling out of bed-each of the animals finds a cozy spot somewhere in the bedroom. Her book illustrations are a gentle wash of blue and gold that perfectly capture the nighttime merriment. Young children will sing along with this happy book and tape. They will be delighted with the spoken as well as the sung version on the tape, both of which feature children's voices. It's perfect for small group listening centers, whole class sing-alongs, or one-on-one.-Emily Herman, Emma Hutchinson Elementary School, Atlanta, GA Copyright 1999 Cahners Business Information.
From the Publisher

"Works as a whimsical, energetic bedtime story." The New York Times

"'10 in the bed/and the little one said:/Roll Over/ Roll Over!"/ They all rolled over/ and one fell out.' One verse per page is illustrated with whimsical animals and a little boy. The animals are lively and curl up around the room after falling out of the bed. On the last page it turns out they were fantasies from the room's border. Dreamy pastel illustrations are in blue and gold with a clever but not busy detail. A pleasant way to count backwards, good for young groups and for singing at bedtime." School Library Journal
