Children's LiteratureThis audio book is about planets, spaceships, three-eyed flat cats, and seven Stones. The seven Stones are members of a devoted family. Feeling cramped and bored in their lunar apartment, Grandmother Hazel helps her fifteen-year-old twin grandsons, Castor and Pollux, trick their dad into buying a spaceship. Before long, Castor begins the countdown to the rest of their lives. After landing on Mars, the twins try to sell their cargo. Instead, the boys wind up with a Martian flat cat. Later the family is surprised to find themselves living with hundreds of flat cats. The boys take advantage of the situation and have a flat cat sale. When it is time to return home the family chooses to continue their space odyssey instead. This story, written in 1952, is the product of one of the greatest science fiction authors of all time. Science fiction fans will be amused by the author's description of life on other planets. Although the twin's voices are read by one actor, the listener may find Pollux's voice annoying. Grandmother Hazel's spunk will inspire the listener. 2005 (orig. 1952), Full Cast Audio, Ages 10 up.
