    If you're interested in Western frontier history, this is in the top tier, not to be missed.

    I am only in the first part of the book but it's the fourth book I've read by Douglas C. Jones and I think there's no one better and very few equals. This book, "Roman," is a realistic and sensitive story of a young man's coming of age on the western frontier starting in 1866. So far it's enjoyable, exciting, and educational. I also recommend the other three books, "Elkhorn Tavern," "Barefoot Brigade,"and "Winding Stair."
